71 Barracuda is home (pics)
« on: February 08, 2008 - 02:03:49 AM »
Finally got the barracuda home.  After looking it over,  there's more rust issues than I previously thought.  I doubt it will stay a slant 6 now if it's going to get a compete rebuild.  I'm just happy to finally have my dream car.   I'm thinking sassy grass big block.   I also received a lot of documentation with the car.

Congratulations on getting your dream car.  My first car was a 71 Duster with a slant 6 but that car definately needs a 340 or above.  Best of luck with the restoration.  I will be looking forward to seeing your progress.

Nice score slant 6 or not. The rust can be fixed so I would not get discouraged but would start a plan of attack and get to work. Keep us posted on your progress with pictures.

Yes unfortunately it does have some rust issues.  The original owner gave it to his grandson who lives on the coast and let it set out uncovered for years.   The best part is that it's never been abused.   I'm planning on removing what's left of the trunk floor first and tackling the back half of the car,  need to get a MIG then the fun will begin.   The car will be getting a 4 speed and the new Gilled fenders that are coming out.   It's just a matter of time and money and shop space.
