Is the wife right?
« on: February 08, 2008 - 03:34:22 PM »
Wife doesn't usually comment on anything concerning the car.  But the combination of the new rims and the red drums really bother her.  She loves the rims, but says the red has got to go.  I also converted fronts to discs so there's no red up front.

Sorry, I meant to say paint the calipers red.

So, what do you guys think?

I agree, dinky brakes look funny with hugh jazz wheels, you might try painting 'em black to try and hide 'em, or the high buck solution would be to convert over to large diameter disc brakes.

They also sell those disc brake dust covers that go between the wheel and the hub, maybe some of those?  I've seen 'em in chrome or paintable.

You could also pick up a can of cast iron grey from VHT at your local auto parts store. Great paint looks good, the only problem is the nozzles aren't the best and leak on a lot of the cans.

I vote paint them black or grey if you're going with those wheels, is that a real T/A? Is it a radio delete car?

Car is a clone, antenna is powered, on right rear quarter.  I still have the ralleys, but don't really like them.  I can always throw them on if needed.  But they don't really add to the look IMO.

For some reason the Bullits don't look as good in the pics as in person, probably because they're black.

I like the new wheels but I think I'd paint the drums cast gray like suggested above.  :2cents:

To answer your question...yes, the wife is right (in my humble opinion), but it all comes down to what YOU like.
1st choice...black
2nd choice..silver/grey

Your wife is right - there's nothing to tie the red into the rest of the car.  Black or grey.

And unless you're absolutely tied to them...I'd vote off the rear window louvers as well.  JMO.

Score one for the wife.
I think it is just too much of a stand out.
In the end it's YOURS, so do what YOU want, but the opinion here seems to be unanimous
