1970 Challenger 340 4 Speed A66

I would use both colors on an engine, just depends on what car is getting what color at the time

Here is another thought.    i just did some research and there were only 1830 340 Challengers buit in 1970 (code A66).  That make this car more rare than a T/A.  Everyone, please give me your feedback on maybe restoring it to original vs making it anytype of clone.  It would be an orginal 340 4-speed challenger, 1 of 1830 cars ever built.  Please anyone, I would love your thoughts...Thanks, Russ

I say that if you already have a 340-6pk T/A, then build your big block car to roast some tires.  Save the old 340 for the next buyer of your car.

I like both colors, but it seems to me that there are a lot more orange ones than yellow ones. Also, everyone seems to be buying the new Challengers in orange too, so I think the yellow will just stand out a little more.

As far as the motor, you really have to decide what you want to do with the car. If you are going to take it to the track, flog the crap out of it, or are just looking for "WOW factor" at the car shows, then go with the 440+6. But if you are not interested in gobs of torque, and just want something nice to show, an original numbers matching car would be a lot cheaper and more authentic. Both motors will make your car do 65, the 440 will just get there a little quicker.

While I love rare cars that are restored it is really your decision and your car. My brother in law has a 383 70 R/T SE with a 440 six pack motor in it and it is not the original red but a 70's mod blue paint scheme. Instead of putting it back red with black top(he already has a red with white interior and white billboard 'Cuda), he is planning to make it a six pack clone in either plum crazy or sublime. It is his car and even though it will not be the correct color or engine, nothing can take away the fact that it is an R/T SE so he is really not losing anything. I say do what you want and let others worry about what is right or wrong. Your car means you can do whatever you want to it  Good luck, most any which direction you go is bound to be cool.

I vote for Yellow w/the black vinyl top that ROCKS!.  I would leave it original 340 4-speed if it was mine.

I'd say do what your heart desires, but keep all the original drivetrain parts so it'll be easy enough to put them back in later if you or another owner ever wants to.   The car looks very clean after the blasting, so you'll have a great base for something very cool.  As for color, FY1 does look very cool, but I think EV2 would look very nice on it, too.

Well, first of all 340-4 spds are highly sought after and would give a 440 a run for the money (sorry 440 guys and gals). Second, what color is the T/A? I have a EV2 Challenger and I think the orange with black vinyl is done to death, especially with 2 fast2furious. I removed my vinyl top as the hardtop looks great (personal preference). You can't go wrong with either color but I am a little biased towards EV2-so in saying that, paint it yellow as I don't need the competition lol. Do what you want and never look back

You all have great points of view and ideas.  The true T/A is FE5 Red w a black interior and 4 speed w/Rallye dash.  Great color combo...thats why this other car I can do anything with.  I have been thinking of making it a T/A clone in FY1 yellow.  To change it back to original.....change.... the exhaust. rear vallance, antenna location, Six pack,hood and stripes.  We'll see?!?!?!?

 Ouch, the other Challenger isn't a slant 6 plane Jane. Save a rare car please. The less it's messed with the better. Just my bias opinion.

Just a weird question about the code A66.    Were all 1970 Challengers with a 340 A66 cars?  Or was the A66 just an option with 340 cars and there were some 340 cars made without the A66 code?
