1968 coronet 440 24k orig miles
« on: February 10, 2008 - 07:15:40 PM »
24k original mile 1968 dodge coronet 440,318,auto on column,8 3/4 rear, manual steering, manual drum brakes.Bought new at papas dodge new britain,ct on nov 17 1967 by a 72 year old man.I have the original title, never handed in for the new registrations, showing the orig owners date of birth 1-29-1895!!!!!!Stopped driving in 1970,the daughter kept it in her garage and just drove sparingly to excersize, so from 70 -94 the car only received 13k miles, still wearing its orig tires.1994 the second owner only removed the tires, put on magnums and drove it up to 22k miles when I purchased in 98.Since then I have only put on another 2,500.
The drivetrain and front suspension were removed for painting and detailing. The oil pan, valve covers, and intake were taken off,hot tanked, and reinstalled(engine is not rebuilt, and is as odometer shows).Everything on motor was painted and detailed.Everything is its original pieces, carb, radiator, alt, water pump, etc.Suspension was cleaned, painted and detailed.Lower ball joints replaced, new hydraulic shocks, new brake hardware, shoes, wheel cylinders, and hoses.Front drums are orig, rears are new but have the originals.
Interior has new carpet, front seat cover, and an NOS headliner.Dash, steering wheel, door panels, and everything else orig, and mint.Underneath dash is mint as it should be for a 24k mile car.AM radio works but stuck on one station, have gear kit to fix.
Front and rear bumpers rechromed, along with the side lights, letters, and fender mounted turn signals.New driver side mirror, and new door handles.
The original paint body, just having a few dings, was stripped to bare metal, epoxy primed, high build urethane primed, blocked and painted the orig EE1 in PPG base coat/clear coat. The engine compartment, door jambs, trunk comp, and under hood and trunk were also painted.
The underneath is also as a 24k car should be,non undercoating, just a had detaing with a light based undercoating just to freshen up,you can see the mint floors, frame rails, etc.(pics if requested)
     New BF's 275/60 rear,and 215/70 front were mounted on new 15x8 and 15x7 magnums.
Original spare and jack are in place on top of a new trunk mat.
     Dual exhaust,with new R/T tips.
The only flaws that come to mind is the winshield being original has some pitting and a scratch from a broken wiper blade, the pass side rear window has a scratch from an interior screw, that has been fixed(nice clean extra side glass comes with car),and the radio already mentioned.

The car starts, runs, and drives very good, has won numerous awards at shows ,cruises, and mopar related shows around the state.Gets alot of attention on the color combo, paint and body.Won't break the bank with its 318 2
barrel ,while getting that mopar muscle  look.
The car will be coming with both sets of wheels, but if you are not interested in the magnums a price can be discussed and the car would be sold with the just originals .Get ready for spring, this car is turnkey.I encourage and welcome for you to come and see, contact me and we can set something up.

asking $22K,can be reached at      paul.anna@sbcglobal.net

IIRC, I remember when you bought that ride.  I commend you for not cloning it and keeping it original.  My first Mopar was a '68 Coronet R/T.  I would love to own yours and your price should move it.  :2cents:  It's a very stunning looking ride, especially with the magnums on it.

Hello 472 R/T SE,you remember when I bought it????????????June 98.I felt this car deserved to be done and kept this way.Its been fun and I almost hate to get rid of it,probably regret it,but sometimes things have to go.If I cannot get what I would like,I might keep.

Yeah in one of these forums we were talking about cloning cars and you mentioned the '68 you had just picked up.  I realize it was 10 years ago and I've forgot a lot of stuff but I remember your '68 cause of the one I used to have.  It's condition always stuck in my mind too.  Were you active on the old Charger Board?

 :clapping: Hey Daytona,

You should buy this car and put it with your collection, you do not even have to tell the wife and put it in another one of the locations your cars are kept buddy. :roflsmiley:
