4 speed shifter rod locations......
« on: February 13, 2008 - 03:07:05 PM »
I currently have a 833 4 speed that I am putting the shifter rods on and they are binding up. I may have them going in the wrong way as I did not have a 4 speed before. Does anyone have any pics of the location of these rods or a really good description how they go in? I have looked in a few books but they are not good pics. Any help would be appreciated.

Well the one pic I was looking at was wrong. I figured it out and I can shift it into every gear except reverse for some reason. How does the hurst shifter go into reverse? Does it pull up or push down and then push to the left? I am not sure.

In neutral, it pushes to the left and up. Everything has to be adjusted to let it push to the left so it will go up

as Al said if the shift levers are not centered the shifter will not go into reverse so you need to adjust the length first to center the levers , there is a small inverted U in the bottom of the shifter housing that you can slide an allen key into , there is a hole in each lever that the allen wrench will slide through , then adjust the length of the rods with the levers centered
