The Return of a True American Legend
« on: February 14, 2008 - 04:36:16 PM »

KNIGHT RIDER

Returns this Sunday on NBC in a two-hour, made-for-TV movie.

Now I know that purists might be upset that it's not a Trans-Am...

Muscle-Car Enthusiasts might not like the body kits or "two-tiered wing" (even I think it's kinda lame)

But this is KNIGHT RIDER!!  This is K.I.T.T.!!  As long as it talks and jumps and drives REALLY fast then I'm okay with it!

If you want to see a cool clip, go to www.jaylenosgarage.com - He got to test drive it, and ripped like a dozen power-slides in the car.  'Course then he wacked a curb with it or something... ...dumbarse!

Just wondering if anyone else is lookin' forward to watching it this weekend.  I'll be glued to my TV.  I've got more Knight Rider toys than I know what to do with - I'll have 'em all laid out on the table.  :)

A Lone Crusader in a Dangerous World...  The World of The Knight Rider!

That is sooo wrong that they are using a mustang, at least they should have used a new Camaro!  :swear:

Looks like a cylon from the old battlestar galactica show.

Personally, I hate this car only slightly less than my neighbors evo with a fart can.

Aw come on, man!  Have some faith!  There's no new Trans-Ams today anyways.  I agree with the Camaro idea, but GM was given the offer - in fact they put the idea out to all of the big Three - Ford was the only who responded.

I also would have been happy if Transformers had stuck to the original vehicles, but honestly, you'd have to work your ass off to make a modern Volkswagon beetle cool!!  Sometimes you gotta bend the lines and break the rules.

If the story sticks, if the car is a little less BS than the car used in the quickly-forgotten show "Viper," then it should work.  My fear is that there's a standard mode and an "attack" mode - sounds a lot like the Super Pursuit Mode from the 80's version.  The two modes don't have much differences besides body stuff it appears - nothing too crazy either, but the usage/alteration between the modes could end up being lame...  Then again, people dig things transforming.  :)

These days it's pretty tough to make everyone happy.  Hey - at least they stuck with an American car...  It could be a Toyota Supra or something lame like that...

Nice looking Mustang. Hopefully they'll be some hot chick on the show instead of David Hasselhoff.    :lol2:

Hey, the "techs" who worked on Kitt in the 80's were Bonnie and April - both were pretty cute, April was a fantastic Redhead...  Hopefully they'll follow suite with the new one.  :)

Would have been really awesome if it was a new Challenger!

Is David Hasslehoff going to have any part in it, maybe as one of the supporting characters? I think that would be kind of cool, and could lead to a lot of "reminiscing".

I think the Hoff is going to play the town drunk in the new series. :drunk:

I was thinking Challenger would have made a sweet KITT, and not just 'cause I'm a mopar guy...  Then again the Koenigsegg would have been cool too, except that as a stunt car for a series, it'd have costed a FORTUNE to keep the cars running and such.

I dunno - Hoff is too much of a joke in the US now.  He's still huge in Europe, but everyone here pretty much thinks he's an ass.  I must admit, he did the original Michael Knight pretty well - did the character justice.  I have all the orig. DVD's and such - I love watching them.  I doubt this series will last - most people think KR was lame/gay/stupid, and the purists will be upset that it's a Mustang.  It probably won't last, which is too bad - Knight Rider was and still is my all-time favorite show.  There is nothing on TV I watch as religiously as I did Knight Rider.

Flame if you will - I don't care.  :)

I've heard that he's still respected in Germany, but here in Norway he's become a bit of a joke too.
The "Hooked on a Feeling" video is loved in an ironic way for being the shameless bluescreen orgy it is, and besides, it's utter sillyness.
But except for that, he's known for having an Hindenburg-sized ego.
