Magnum Force Rear Disc Kit. Any Comments?
« on: February 15, 2008 - 01:44:50 PM »
I am "thinking" that I might want to upgrade my stock front disc / rear 11' drum setup to the Wilwood Disc setup. I dont expect this would give me a huge performance gain I think they look a lot better. Anyone use their kit before?

  :feedback: I too am wondering about their rear disc kit (11.75 w/ e-brake in rotor hat) I already have the front willwood kit but may choose DR DIFFS rear brake kit. Just not sure about the e-brake system on the Willwoods.

I just ordered DrDiffs kit. I thought the Wildwood kit was good but required regular inspections as it isnt sealed as well for daily or regular street use? Not sure on that but I also read you had to use the fixed green bearings with it? I went with Diffs kit because its all bolt on and can upgrade with anything that fits Cobra or Mustang setup. I dont like the squirrely looking return spring on any caliper though.

That looks pretty nice.. is that what they call the TSM kit? Did it affect the spacing in the wheel wells at all?

he states it decreases backspace 1/8" on each side so it would move your wheel assembly .125 away from the springs. He claims his front kit does the same only 1/4" per side.

thanks for the info and ya I had the same thought about the spring. I didnt know about the lack of sealing when I orderd my front kit and was too excited to notice when I got them! :faint: Oh well guess I get to inspect them now instead!  :smilielol:

I wouldn'tlet the lack of weather seals be a deterrent; the Mopar Action guys wrote that it would be pretty unusual to get any debris caught in the mech. Where do you go to get pads for the WilWoods?

I orderd a spare set from Magnumforce when I orderd my kit. I also found a few raceshops down in BC and Alberta that stock them so I will always have a spare set ready. :ylsuper: I am a parts guy by trade so I have quite the "parts fetish" :smilielol:

just got the DrDiff kit in today. All looks pretty good, ready to install this weekend. His caliper brackets look like machined and anodized aluminum.

They are sold as 11.75 but they actually measure closer to 11.625. I believe they are same as Mustang Cobra so are prob available in slotted or cross-drilled. Also ordered the custom e brake cables; they were shipped from another company that makes them for DD. They look pretty good to me.

I've talked to a number of chevy guys who have put 40-50 thousand miles on their Wilwoods without incident. You also have to figure that these cars probably aren't used for daily driver duty in the worst and sloppiest of weather condition either.

Wilwood pads can be picked from any of the big 3 mail order places; Summit, Jegs, PAW.

I went with the DD kit becuase it bolts on with no bearing change and it sets up the 8 3/4 with Mustang fitment. Parts availability galore, and plenty of upgrade rotors and calipers if I ever wanted to go there.

On a side note, does that Duplicolor caliper paint really hold up and look as good as powder coating?

I have heard good things about the duplicolor caliper paint... I like it because you can touch it up if it gets chipped. I painted my Supra calipers a long time ago with a different product and it held up OK. even though it was a rattle can.. I think the Duplicolor it better though.

Do you have the # for DD? I think I need to call.
