Now I'm trying to figure out this ignition module. I have to use the #1 and #2 wires from the Edis module to connect to the Mega Squirt PCM. here is a diagram. It's very compact, 4"X6" and weighs less than 10 ounces.

Heres the wiring from the edis,(12 pin connector) PIN#1 begins with the PIP, Profile ignition pickup, as a point of reference. Grey wire with orange tracer.

Thanks Chryco, I think the only thing I 'need' to do is get the harness from the MS PCM and adapt it to the harness from the EDIS. Of course I have to wait to get the electronincs from DYI auto tune, Matt Cramer's place, 800.00 is what I am looking at!!Save, save, save, LOL!! I will also have to figure out a way to munt that trigger wheel behind a pulley of the same or smaller diameter then the trigger wheel. There has to be a slotted mount fabbed for the VR sensor, something like the mag pickup on a MSD flying trigger magnet setup the pro's use. I will have to have it 'slotted' or ovaled to allow .006 space between the magnet and the trigger wheel. TDC is found by placing the magnet exactly 5 teeth before the missing tooth, this 'syncs' the edis to fire at the proper time, when it's aligned you lock it down which is why I mentioned the slotted or ovaled mount. But as far as that wiring schematic, it looks pretty straightforward. I think I will have a harder time figuring out how to 'sandwich' the trigger wheel between the damper and pulley and still maintaining fan belt alignment, possible having to machine some spacers.

Here's the electronics list of hardware I purchased from Matt Cramer at DIY auto tune. I'll post the pics as soon as I recieve them. I think I may need to get a ready to mount trigger wheel from Matt, but will wait until I have the damper and pulleys. That way I'll know where I stand as far as fitment of the wheel and the VR sensor mount. It needs to be approx. .006 from the reluctor magnet and sandwiched between the damper and crankshaft pulley.

It's arrived! The Mega SquirtII V 3.57  with stimulator board, pre-configured for E-85 Flex Fuel capabilities, and pre wired for the G.M. fuel Comp. sensor,  IAT and ECT sensor bungs, pigtails, wiring, Can BUS connector with serial ports. All I need to kkep me busy in the books for awhile, I still need to get an Eds 383 Victor and get it plumbed with a throttle body and fuel rails, I'd like to use high impedance injectors for Peak&Hold configuration as this is what the high end fuel systems are using, I think it controls the pulse width a little better than low impedance injectors, either way can be utilized by Mega Squirt, still in the planning stages on that one, I also got another trigger wheel, this will be much easier to mount between the pulley and damper. I'll need to fab a mount thats adjustable to .006 gap, a slotted or ovaled hole/ threaded set screw in a small mount will work fine.

Sweet!  I cannot wait to see how hard/easy that is to configure on your engine.

Ok, here is where I am at in regards to the electronics. I was shipped a pre-assembled PCM wiring harness. But where does it start from? It terminates at the PCM I know, but where does it plug into? The data link they shipped me plugs into the laptop, this then plugs into the PCM for the VE tables and tuning calibrations.  I realize I must assemble my own sensor, injector, ignition wiring harness and that connects to the other end of the main harness, I must call Matt and get this squared away. I have been studying the Mega Manual. It seems the more I read the more confused I get LOL!!

BTW, the small board is the stimulator board, it plugs into the back of the PCM and once everything is hooked up it can test the injectors, fiddle valve which I wont be using, I will use a stepper IAC motor. The other larger board is the main power relay it protects the PCM from higher load carrying current. I am confused about a few things,(many actually), but I think I will ask Matt C. a few questions. For one where does the main harness come from? I realize it terminates at the PCM but where does it plug into, the relay has aconnection but then again if thats true where would the main sensor harness, which I will build myself, (they gave me a wiring harness thst marked for each component is colour coded, proper gauge ect, really cool), but as I say, where does it originate and terminate.  A few questions need to be asked. :clueless:

chryco-have you done many megasquirts?
I have stuck to the FAST, Haltechs, Bigstuff, DFI, etc because the time it takes to build the megasquirt and trouble shoot it outweighs the expense savings as far as doing it for a customer. Now it looks like the megasquirt can do so much more it may be worth it to do a couple systems at "cost" just to get it figured out. I like the idea of having it easily E85 compatible, even if we don't have any of that gas here in Texas. I recently picked up a new in the box generation 6 DFI with harness for $450 that we are going to put on a 57 chevy. Doesn't have all the options of the megasquirt or other systems, but it is a proven unit and works very well once tuned. Good for set it and forget it conversions.

When you get to the point of completing the EDIS wiring, make sure to duplicate the factory shielding (wires wrapped in foil) for the CKP, IDM and Spout wiring.
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....
