I should have asked your advice before I started this Roller deal Chryco!! :sly: :grinyes:Here's what I had to do. The rear welch plug is obviously installed. To check the proper thrust clearance I had to grind then radius the cam button a bit, repeated trips to the sioux grinding machine to remove .010 at a time then mock it up and  check it. After 7 times I had the required clearance which is easier to hear it tap the inside of the cover than to feel for .010 with a large screwdriver against the cam lobe taking care not to scratch a lobe. Clay helps to get a baseline, if the cover wont go on at all then the button will have to be either changed to a different style or it will have to be severly ground, some buttons wont allow this like the Diamond,, a Crane/Comp alluminum will work ,,I havent tried the Nylon which might actually be a better choice depending on the type of cover you decide to use.

Are you planning on going with the Ford EDIS-8, or are you keeping the distributor and running a crank trigger?

I along with 2 other builders are still waiting for the Engine Dyno and assembly lab here at school. We were promised this 'Lab' 2 years ago and was the primary reason whi I enrolled in Auto Tech,,if not for that I would be in Machine Instrument Tech.(Machine Shop). Since I have no control over any of their aquisitions, I gotta 'go with the flow',,so I want to complete this with a standard distributor and E-85 Carb, pay out of pocket to get it dynoed here in town at Eric Bonwells Racing Engines and Cylinder head machining Service($375.00 for 4 pulls), post those results and go from there. But I still have the complete EDIS-8.

I also tested each seat,(Intake&Exhaust), for 25" with a Goodson/Sioux 1730EL vacum gauge, they all held just fine. I spent considerable time making sure the seats were fine and they lapped out perfectly.

For the money they are good heads. The valves are decent but everything else other than the valves and 'bare' heads should be replaced with stronger higher quality parts. I mocked up one side for the high school kids who seem to trust me. :dunno:
