No more Lou?
« on: February 17, 2008 - 12:11:08 PM »
Just watched Musclecar and Lou said it was his last episode.   :o  I liked Lou.  He gave an average guy like me hope that I can build my car the way I want it, who cares if I don't know how to do everything.  Plus he gave me hope for the clinically insane, that there are jobs out there for them.  Lou, you will be missed!

Muscle Car isn't going to be the same without him.

I think the blond guy will be taking over (can't think of his name).  I was bummed when Jared quit the show, and now Lou too?  Lou was crazy (so was Jared, a great combo), that's what I liked about him.  Most of the reason I watch Extreme 4x4 is because of the wacky hosts (Ian is wacky, Jesse is just hot).  The guys on Horsepower are boring, no personality between the three of them (maybe the young guy has some, but he never gets to show it).  The guys on Trucks are o.k.  The blonde guy reminds of a high school shop teacher, describing things so you can understand it.  The other guys drives a BMW.  Nothing against Bimmers, they are nice cars, but it seems like a bit of a let down when you see his job.  Plus he is a bit of a dork.

I agree it's not going to be the same. They have been running adds to hire new people for a while now.

You know, I think the only car to really ever get finished from start to end was that crate camero.  Maybe the parts hauler el camino.  Oh but look, they are starting a new project next week.

At least they gave Lou a proper farewell, they just mentioned in a blurb that Jared went back to Rad Rides.  They did complete the El Camino, the crate Camaro and Old Blue Hair (Nova).  The Mustang and the Chally are ongoing projects.  The last few episodes have been a "looking back" at each project.

:'( no more Lou?? How sad he always made me laugh and he sure knows his stuff.

He posted on a forum that he was leaving due to family issues and wouldn't be able to finish any of his projects

Maybe he wanted to do his own thing too...

As soon as the last few taping show that'll be it...no more Lou...but they have a replacement

Lou was a retired CM1 from the SeaBees. For all of you who may not know what I am talking about that is paygrade E-6 in the Navy's Civil Engineer Corps. CM1 means that he was a Construction Mechanic, meaning he worked on heavy construction equipment down to what we call A$$ haulers i.e. pick-ups and HMMWV's (Hummers).
You can see the SeaBee flag hanging up in the shop and he proudly displays the patch on his shop clothes.
I am coincidentally a CM also but I am a mere CM2 (E-5). We are lovingly referred to as Circuis Monkies instead of Construction Mechanics sometimes. You can tell that by watching him. We are all a fun loving bunch that likes to break up the manotany of the shop with antics and jack-asery much like Lou does.
I am taking my test to become a CM1 in March so wish me luck and if anyone knows how to get in touch with Lou let him know that this Circus Monkey is trying to follw in his paw prints.
I hope he would be proud of the work I've done on the 'cuda.

I was wondering what all the clips were about - I too tuned in a little late.  D@mned illness!!!

He seems like a big Mopar fan - I think their first project was a 'Cuda or Challenger - can't quite remember.

I miss when those shows - Trucks especially, did "How It Works" at WyoTech schools.  I was in classes at WyoTech when they filmed one of those bits for Horsepower TV.
