1973 Cuda for sale

Hey guys, it's not to the point I would like it to be yet, but I am going to go ahead and put this Cuda up for sale. It has the fender tag, but I haven't decoded it. It's hard to read it all, but I'll include a pic to see if you can. From what I know, it is an original 318 BS 1973 Cuda. It had a 400 transplanted into many years ago. The previous owner said it was running fine when he parked it in 1995. I've just replaced the ignition switch which I knew to be bad, but it still won't crank from the key. I have cranked the motor from the starter relay, but haven't gotten it running yet. I need to troubleshoot it some more, but it probably won't be much to get it running. I replaced all of the plug wires and cap. Mice had chewed through all of them.

The quarters need obvious replacement and the trunk has a couple of holes in it, but I think it is fairly solid other than that. The interior needs redone, but is all there. Very restorable. Asking price is $8,900.

Get that thing running and Ill be interested, as far and the non start, check all your grounds and make sure its getting fuel. I have not had any problems with ignition problems but those seem the most common things id think. Can we get some pics of the engine bay and some more of the interior? Might get the wife interested in cars with something like this hehe.

It will crank by jumping the relay, but nothing but dash light with the key. Here's a shot of the engine bay when I was replacing the wires. I also remembered that there is a rust hole at each hood hinge mount. I don't know if you can see that in this shot though.

Sounds like your nuetral safety switch either fell off or is bad.  Check under the car and see if it is connected to the tranny.

Is the reverse light switch also the neutral safety switch? The plug I thought was the back up switch had a wire chewed through that I knew about, but thought it was irrelevant. After looking at the colors of the wires on my wiring diagram I jumped the chewed through wire and it finally cranked by the key. WOOohoo! I don't have time to hook it up to a fuel source tonight, but I think it will fire right up now. Sweet.

Good job!  You are correct, the reverse indicator switch is also the nuetral safety switch.  Just be careful now, since you jumped the switch, your car will start when it's in gear.

Don't worry, I didn't bypass the switch. I just used a jumper wire on a wire that was chewed through by rodents. It's still hooked up as it should be.  I just gotta repair that wire permanently now.

No one wants to jump on this fine opportunity to own a real BS e-bod Cuda for a great entry level price? It will be running tonight. The only reason it isn't yet is that my buddy made me promise not to start it until he was able to get out to the house which he hasn't been able to do until tonight. Spring time is almost here folks. Time to get this one back on the road. Where's the guy who e-mailed me about it and then didn't follow up?

Well, she's finally running again. I was actually shocked at how well it ran right off the bat. As soon as I put a fuel source to it and got fuel up to the carb it fired right up and idled smooth as if it had just been started yesterday. It hasn't run since 1995 and has been outside until the past couple of months. The left bank had some lifter noise but it quited down some after a few minutes but not all the way. I'm gonna put some conditioner in it to help free up any sticky lifters or valves. So, anyone considering this car now, it DOES run.

I wish it was here in Sweden, but then again it wouldn`t have such a low price. Would love to use it as a driver.
Whats the condition of the frame rails? Good luck with the sale, it would surprise me if it didn`t sale quick.

The frame rails look pretty solid to me.  Other issues on this car that I don't know if you can see on the pics or not: The windshield has a large crack most of the way across it and will need to be replaced. The front lower valance is dented and will probably need replacement unless you are really good with a hammer and dolly. The lower valance insert will also need replacement. Those along with the quarters, trunk pan, and the holes by the hood hinges are the only important issues that I see. All of the other glass is good.
