Well, the brakes were ordered at the end of November. Was told to expect a delay due to wilwood closing for christmas, new years. At the end of january I called the distributor to find out what the delay was. Turns out my brakes were sent to a canadian customer. Wilwood was supposed to drop ship mine to me. When they showed up at the distributors shop he assumed they were for his Canadian customer since wilwood will not ship to canada. Happen to be the same kit, good for them but bad for me. I finally received my rear brakes last Friday, a week into February. I called Cass (Dr Diff) to let him know I was sending the rear brakes so he could finish up my Dana and I can get the car back on the ground and continue. I then learned he has broken his ankle and will be out for at least another month. Yet again another delay.

Can't fault him for breaking his ankle. My fault for not getting the brake kit to him faster. If I had I would have the rear back by now. I really don't have anyone else to build the rear even if I still had it. it is going to need some customizing to work with the fixed caliper wilwoods and the internal parking brake setup because of the mopar bolt pattern and large ford bearing hybrid setup. it will be nice to get the car into the bodyshop and get started on that year long portion of it as well as get room back in my shop to work on more side jobs so I can pay for all this!

well, looks like wilwood was confused and sent us Ford backing plates instead of the Mopar ones we were going to be able to modify to work. The Mopar ones we could modify to work with the big Ford bearings, but not the other way around. So we ordered the correct backing plates. Cass has them modified, housing is powdercoated, I am just waiting for the bill and a shipment notice. It will be right at a year from the time I ordered the strange bare housing to when I receive the finished rear (assuming I get it within a month). For those of you considering this deal I will say it again. Stick with the 8.75 rear. Not sure if the XV brakes are worth it versus the Wilwoods I ended up going with, but there is something to be said for buying everything from one place if possible.

Greg,
Have you tried test fitting 275s on the front like XV says will fit? Any luck?
Wes

Also, how's the ride height with the front end?

3.73 with Tru Trac. I'll go with an overdrive of some sort, either modern auto with paddle shifter or stick to the classic pistol grip rowing a 5 speed. I don't see the need to spend the extra coin for a 6 speed. There are some areas I am trying to converse costs otherwise this thing will never get finished.

I will have to pull the brakes off since I highly doubt the stock 14 inch magnums will fit over those 13 inch rotors. Not quite ready to buy rims yet and as much as they will cost I can't take a chance of leaving them unattended at a body shop when it goes. matter of fact I will be shrink wrapping the whole rear before it goes to the body shop.
