Dude,

You're missing your pins.

I'll see if I can get a pic of one if someone doesn't beat me to it.

The center or each pin goes in that hole and both side touch each other in the middle.

He was a Chevy guy wasn't he?

EDIT: My pins and extra pig aren't here at my house, so no pics.

Here is a pic that I drew in paint, to try to give you an idea of what you should see there.  The pins allow you to push the right axle into the other to adjust your bearing preload. The pushing pin should not bottom out in the center section before it seats the driver's side axle bearing. These go into the hole that are in your pic.     If you want to put it together tonight, you'll have to cut a bolt like I suggested up above.

I didn't ask....

So how hard is it to put the pins in, do I have to take it all apart again?  Where can I get new pins?

I guess the pins could be installed using some inginuity such as a long stick with a small magnet on the end or tape the pin on the end But the reality is it is probably just easier to pull the center section out again

Definately not tonight.....maybe tomorrow night or over the weekend....I'm actually waiting to see if Goody can help me out this weekend with it.

So you can make a set of "homemade" pins and that will work?  Is it too hard to find pins?

This pin? Or the 'thrust block'?

I've had mine in/out, but bought it setup and just dropped it in. so the pin is new for me too  :icon16:

It is the thrust block in your pic.  The "Clutch" sure grip had pins, one on each side. Goody doesn't need those because Mike said that he uses Green bearings.  Right Mike?
Here is another pic of a PIN that I made out of a bolt. I guess you could use 2 bolts and use the heads with one being on each side. That will give you more surface area to rub against the axle.

I used it like that for 5 years before I found some pins from the guy that I mentioned above.  I'm not sure on the length but if you have your old center section, you can try to measure the width of the block to give you a good starting point.    If you know a guy with a lathe, he can make you a couple easily. Leave them long so that you can grind them to length

Great pic.  Thanks again.

Mike, yours pins are probably still held in place by the rivet if you were able to adjust preload. That's if yours was the pin type and didn't look like RDF's pic above.

Ah gotcha, so pretty much they just transfer bearing adjustment from one axle to the other.

Are you sure those pins aren't already in my carrier?  The pins that Got Job showed looks like they are hollow....and the larger end looks like the ring in the 1st picture that I put up with the photoshop markings on it.  :clueless:

How do they come out?  Are they just held in place my lube?  If that's the case, I can see if the one's I have come out......because the diameter of the pins shown looks exactly like the diameter of the ring in the 1st picture.......

Robert,here is another pic

yours are definitely missing. :grinyes:

The hole in your pic is the size of the smallest diameter of the pin.
