Hello from Minnesota!!!
« on: February 21, 2008 - 10:05:08 PM »
Hello everyone!  Wanted to take some time to introduce me and my Mopar.  I love all the info on this site! I'm sure that I'll be using it as my project progresses...

I've inherited my living fathers 1970 tripple black 1970 Plymouth Barracuda.  Dad has too many projects and dosent have the time to give the car the TLC it needs.  Dad bought the car back in 1973, and I remember the day he drove it home...that's another story.  It was an original 318 3-spd car.  The car was driven year round till bout '79 when the timing chain broke.  Dad debated selling the car, but in the end, he decided to fix it up.  During the first restoration, Dad replaced the 318 3-spd with a 340 4-spd with pistol grip shifter.  It is a fun car to drive, and I consider myself very fortunate to now own it.

I am in the process on giving the car it's second restoration.  The years of Minnesota winters took their toll on the car.  I'm currently replacing floor boards and upgrading to leather interrior.  I have plans to turn it into a Cuda clone.  I've got the hood, rear exhaust valance, exhaust tips ect...  I've already replaced the cooling system (you can see evidence of the leak in the photo).  I'm gonna upgrade to front disk brakes too.

This car has been in my family for a long time.  There are alot of good memories and sentimental value is off the chart.  I'm looking forward to giving her a third lease on life.  I'm sure I'll be asking a lot of questions down the road.

Till then...thanks for reading.

Thanks for the compliment!  It does get attention when I drive it...

I've got some top down photos, but they need to be resized.  I'll post them after resizing...

:2thumbs:  That is a nice looking car!  What color is the interior going to be?  I once saw a black drop top with a red interior and red stripe.  It was clearly not stock, but was an extremely cool combo.
Keep the pics coming!!

Hi, elevenssc!  Welcome!

Not many people can inherit a car like that!  You must be thrilled!  :grinyes:

First Mopar I got from my Dad was a '82 5th Ave, far cry from a Barracuda!  :bricks1:

Here are more photos.  Supprisingly, I dont have many with the top down.  Guess I'll have to fix that when the snow melts.

I'm planning to keep it a tripple black car with the 340.  I'm gonna put a flat black 340 hockey sticks on it too...subtle is good :-)  I'm also putting 15" rims on it...just gotta buy the tires.  I'll be sure to take more pics this spring

Very nice pics!

Yeah, the 15" tires/wheels were the first thing that pops in my head that'll really up the cool factor.   The Hockey stick in flat black will be cool too!

I was going to say keep the flat hood but a shaker looks soooooo right on those Barracudas....  :grinyes:
