Sounds like someone grafted a RR airgrabber assembly to a Cuda flat hood. Only factory fresh air hood on an E body was a shaker.
It's not a true "flat" hood, that's what threw me. There is a stamped raised surround and then a bolt on center raised section that contains the air grabber door.
The door itself looks exactly like the RR, shape/size, but it sits on this hood in a raised section.
Hope to get back out there before the weekend.
Thanks.

well, you sound competent enough to give us the facts as seen. Pictures will be great to see what has been created on this hood. It may be something others may want to try to do.  Anything can be made to look like factory with the skills of a good body man.  Hope to see pictures soon .

Does it look sort of something like this hood?

Yes, it has the same raised section with airgrabber, but it is proportional to the 'Cuda hood.

Like I said, kickin' myself for not having a camera with me.

Edit:
Just want to make sure y'all know, I'm not saying it is a factory airgrabber hood, this is the first 'Cuda hood I've seen with it.
If it was a one off, whoever did it spent some time on the details though.

Sure, not factory, but it'll still be interesting to see.  :grinyes:

'71 and '72 B body hoods are the same width as E body hoods so it wouldn't be too hard to bolt one on.  The length is probably different though

From the front floor pan forward to the radiator support, a 71-4 B body is the same structure as an E body.

Hey.....  :thinkerg:  I wonder if anyone has tried to bolt up a '72 Road Runner nose (fenders, hood, header, valance, bumper) to a '72 Challenger?  I won't be the first to try but that would be interesting to see how interchangeable the front end body parts are.... I know, I'm  :screwy:

:roflsmiley: True enough but right now I can't exactly go ahead and try it.  Maybe after 72 RR #1 sells and I start to work on #2, I'll try it some day

I set a '74 Charger hood on one of my 'CUDA chassis once.  I don't have any B-Plymouths lying around or I would have already tried it.

Maybe the car in question had a flat Barracuda hood with a power bulge stuck on  :dunno:

I wonder what's the length of the Cuda hood and header vs just the hood of a Road Runner?  :clueless:  :sly:
