I thought he was muslim? It doesnt even matter to me what religion he is, I will NEVER vote for a man who does not   respect this country enough to put his hand over his heart during something as simple as the pledge of allegiance. He has no experience, he is a great speaker/promisemaker, period. This country is so eager to move away from the Bush administration that it looks to be running headlong into a bigger mess than before. I dont like any of the candidates to tell the truth.

While I hesitate to get into the middle of a political discussion (isn't this supposed to be about cars?), I think it's important to get the facts correct.  Like many people, I get a fair amount of political spam masquerading as fact.  I always check with two sites before I believe any of it: Snopes.com (http://www.snopes.com) and FactCheck.org.  In this case, I checked Snopes about the pledge allegation and, well...read for yourself:  http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.asp

Understand, I'm not advocating for any candidate nor am I attempting to change anyone's opinions.  People have legitimate reasons to have reservations about all three major candidates or to like the current administration.  I offer this under the sincere belief that the best citizens are well-informed citizens in possession of all the facts.

I can't believe the crap people will say about candidates they don't like. I guess they think that Obama sounds similiar to Osama, so he must be a muslim. What a joke. Grow up.

100% :iagree: People in the "Deep South" must be finding it hard. An African American or a Lady lol, cavemen mentalities are old. America needs a fresh change IMO and anything beats Bush. I'm still not sure how he got voted in by the American public?? :screwy: This isn't an "anti American" post or any of that rubbish because if Bush were running my country I'd laugh too. I liked Clinton, did his job, and had his own two feet. Bush is a puppet that can barely string a sentence together let alone guide a nation.

I'm not trying to start ANYTHING here, and trust me, I don't believe in alot of the things I see and read, but what do you all think of this?

"Senator Barack Obama, Governor Bill Richardson, Senator Hillary Clinton and Ruth Harkin stand during the national anthem.
Barack Hussein Obama's photo (that's his real name)......the article said he REFUSED NOT ONLY TO PUT HIS HAND ON HIS HEART DURING THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE, BUT REFUSED TO SAY THE PLEDGE.....how in heaven's name can a man like this expect to be our next Commander-in-Chief????"

I checked some sites to see if it's real, but couldn't find anything saying yes or no.....does anyone know the truth to this???

HA!  Just as I posted this I read your post!  I wouldn't have posted that and mods, you can remove it if you wish.  As I stated before, I didn't know the validity of it, so I wanted to see if anyone else knew.

Now I know!  Thanks Greg!  :2thumbs:

Actually, it is true that he didn't have his hand over his heart at this particular event:

Then again, how often have you been to a ballgame or other sporting event and people don't remove their hats during the national anthem?

Is it legal to have to place your hand over you heart? Some people don't sing our anthem during the big matches of Rugby (it's big down here). Reason being is some people like to think about people back home or their loved ones, my point? Everyone is different and some people may show their pride in different ways "outside the box".  :2cents:

It is in the Flag Code (the second Snopes link gives details), but it's not like it's something enforceable.  To my way of thinking, it would be "un-American" to try to do so.  However, one can see where people may think someone who doesn't offer respect to the symbols of their country is un-fit to stand as the leader of the military.

Carl, I appreciate your opinion as a non-american citizen, since we americans often have difficulty seeing us as others see us.

As far as politics and the spin...it's a grand tradition of politics here and for that matter everywhere else that people will often never let the facts get in the way of truth as they want to percive it.

Thanks. As most would know it's a whole different place outside the USA.
Be interesting to watch this unfold. Hopefully who ever wins, wins fairly and does good for your country.

What kills me about the elections each year is that we only get to pick from 2 people....yet we get to choose from 50 for Miss America.....go figure. :clueless:

:iagree: :lol2:

True, however, at the end of the day, they get eliminated to just 2 or 3 and there's always a winner.
