Barracuda conv.....left in the snow...
« on: February 27, 2008 - 11:06:17 AM »
...I've known the owner of this Barracuda since we were kids, he has quite a few businesses and quite a few cars....many of the cars are hardly worth storing anymore (too many years of sitting out doors over a mud hole), but this one always seems to always get the crappy end of the storage facility...everyone has tried to purchase the car, including me a few years ago...he won't sell it, won't fix it and doesn't seem to worry about it at all anymore....it just sits outdoors crumbling away, it's getting really crusty...it spent several years sitting in the yard at his home on flat tires and sunk up to the body in mud...at least the tires are inflated now.....

Wow, atleast I covered mine!  :faint:

Looks like anice car, decent shape.

Does he drive it around?  Is it treated like a driver type of car?  :clueless:

We should have a CC.COM Rescue team. We find out about cars like that, swoop in at night and 'Rescue' them to our 'shelter". There they would receive the love they deserve.  :naughty:

...he used to drive it all the time, then just let it set....I don't think it has run in years....it's a 6cyl/AT...it does get pushed from spot to spot occasionally

If someone were to get it, I would hope they would leave it that way.  A /6 convertible would be killer.  A convertible is made for cruising anyways.   :cooldancing:

About 7 or 8 years ago, I was with my Dad hitting the wrecking yards in the central valley, Stockton/Modesto area.

I had a Duster at the time, looking for some clean fenders, so we were cruising towards the Chrysler section.

There it sat.  A '70 or '71 Barracuda convertible.  It was totally rust free, but missing the hood, grill, engine, trans, rearend, seats, and wheels, but otherwise pretty complete.  I crawled all over it, because not only had I never seen any E-bodies in the junkyards, and definately never a convertible.  I asked about it at the front counter about purchasing it, but it one of those dismantler chains (Pick-A-Part or Pick-N-Pull) that once a car makes it into the yard, it doesn't come back out whole.

It eventually got stripped and crushed, but I still remember that car clearly to this day.   :walkaway:

This one won't likely meet that fate.

Reminds me of a long time ago when my brother parked his Trans Am in the garage and told me I could fix it for him and buy parts for it but not be able to drive his car.  :screwy:

His Trans Am made a nice place for me to spray paint and put my 12 ft long ladder.  :icon16:  :grinyes:  :roflsmiley:
