I was going to respond on your other thread, is the OD of the 741 case early bearing cup a different diameter than the 489 case? I would think you could run the early case bearings and you would be good to go unless the bearing cup OD is different between the cases. Check here:

unfortunately, I have no idea.....the 489 case is at the shop and the 741 is at my house...what do you mean by OD?

I'll just post the specs I found, the OD is the outer diameter of the cup (the part the diff bearing rides in that sits in the diff case bore)

These specs are from the timken website: the 741 bearing cup OD is .005" bigger than the 489 cup OD. Whether this is a problem or not I would ask chryco or your shop. They would need to measure to figure out how much interference fit (ID of diff case bearing bore vs. OD of bearing cup race diameter) there is when the caps are torqued.

thanks for the specs.....I called the guy and he said he ran these numbers c30847 and it came back as a 65-68 year.....I don't know where he ran those numbers at, but he's going to try to order a bearing kit for a 741 case and see if that has the correct bearings he needs.

I looked and the early carrier bearings are stocked at autozone (I used a zip code for orlando 32809, not sure if near you)

you could look at autozone.com I used 67 polara 383 for the car. They show the same part numbers I found in the timken application guide.

You should be able to get the right bearings and use the diff you have.

I called Mopar Performance back and they directed me to DTS (TimKen I believe) and they told me ALL carriers are interchangable, regardless of the year.  Now he said I may have an earlier style carrier that uses different bearings, so they gave me the 2 bearings part numbers (25590 & 25520, 2 of each) and those can be bought at ANY parts store.  So those are on their way to the shop and my pig should be ready tomorrow, hopefully.  Cross your fingers on this one....I'd hate to have to buy a whole new carrier because I got the wrong one...

Sorry to dig up such an old post but I am wondering what the c-30847 represents? I have an opportunity to purchase what he calls a sure grip and the only numbers he can find are the ones I mentioned above. Is it a sure grip? If so is a cone or clutch? PPLLLeeease Help! I want a SG for the chally!!

Thanks for the info.  Unfortunatly it dosen't tell me what the c-30847 represents
