How much slop is in the linkage? Also are they timed right in the park position? could be either cause

Not sure about these cars but I think the "park" position in the motor is gone.  Possibly a good cleaning of the internal contacts or a rebuild may be in order.

Maybe someone else can chime in on this?  :dunno:

This thread may or may not relate to your problem.

My question is, do you have a 2-speed, or variable speed wiper switch? A bad ground at the switch, or motor could also be the problem.

Ok get ready to laugh. My wipers return to home position only after I turn the dome light on and then off again :clueless:. I thought I was loosing my mind, but I made someone else go and look at what I was seeing and it is confirmed.

If you open the door, the dome light should stay on. How are you turning your's on and off? This might give us a clue.

With the door closed if I turn the dash dimmer counterclockwise far enough the wipers just return home, but this also causes the dome light to turn on :roflsmiley:. So I turn the knob clockwise about a 1/8 turn and the dome light goes off. I am convinced that I probally don't have the proper switches, because the wiper control is not a 2 or 3 position switch it is a pot control knob for variable speed?  I feel pretty comfortable working on the dash cluster now, I think i have had it out about 10 times now :cooldancing:.
