You are going to town on that car!

Well I picked back up after about 5 months of doing nothing due to my schedule.  :jumping:

Does the firewallknow the part it needs to connect to-i.e. the HVAC unit?

Not following you on this one, can you say it again?  :clueless:

:clueless: Not sure why it took me so long to post here. I bought the new challenger roof skin from AMD several months ago, and installed promptly. Fit relatively well, and looks great. I recommend that anyone struggling with patching their roof, buy a new one.  :2thumbs:

Lunch,

I was wondering how well the HVAC (Heat, Vent, and Air Conditioning unit) fits to the firewall. Is it accurate?

Since I noticed the  miss-pressed holes, I wonder if the rest of the holes are off by a degree here and there.

Ah thats what I thought I just wanted to double check. Well if I remember right the upper cowl only has two things that has to do with a/c. Where the hoses come out which the repo was pretty good about reproducing (couple contours could be a hair better). Also there is a bracket that goes from a a/c hose to the cowl, can be reproduced easy enough.

There was a few dimples on the repo that don't match my 70, but I am sure they are for the post 71 emissions.

My firewall is original, so I should hope that it all fits well  :icon16:

I purchased a new front bumper from AMD. My only complaint was it wasn't packaged too well. It actually fell out of the bottom of the box when I picked it up, but that was the fault of UPS for the beating it took in shipping. Just needed a little bit better wrap on the bumper!! Other than that it fit great. Fitting a bumper solo at 3:00 am the day before leaving for Carlisle isn't very smart or easy. End result was awesome and I don't have any pics right now so go ahead and let me have it!!! :roflsmiley: :smilielol: :roflsmiley:

I also bought a replacement left front fender from Goodmark to replace the one on my '74 Challenger that was damaged when my front wheel came off while I was going down the interstate!! It fit amazingly well. All the holes lined up just about perfect. Very well made and a very good fit. I couldn't have been happier!! As far as my personal experiences, I highly recommend Goodmark and AMD!! :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

I bought a goodmark trunklid for my challenger a while ago and I was very pleased withe the fit and the construction quality. It will still need some tweaking to get it to fit right and the edges of the holes will need to be smoothed out (they're kinda sharp). I didn't like the funky screws that came with the latch piece but it was nice that it came with a new latch. I will use my old latch anway and I bought it before they started making the new lids with the spoiler cutouts so I missed out on that one. It is way better than my old rusted out one that's for sure.

Repost from my resto thread.

I had this posted in another section but wanted to keep it with my car also before it gets buried in the body section.

Well now I have three sets of inner fenders. One set of originals, a set of Year One type, and a set of Goodmark’s. The originals are off my 1970 Challenger and they will be the standard of which I am comparing the others to.

I started by using a caliper to measure the metal thickness of each of the panels. I can’t say that this test is by any means conclusive for a few reasons. A caliper wasn’t the best tool to measure the thickness but it was what I had at the time. Second when a sheet of metal is formed it is stretched in certain areas to make the shape. Doing this will cause the metal to be different thicknesses in different areas. I did measure them all in the same area so take it as you will

Factory:  .040 in
YearOne:  .038 in
Goodmark:  .040 in

Holes that need to be drilled pass side.

YearOne:  9
Goodmark:  7 (5 are for A/C cars, 2 for the access panel for the alignment cam, and 1 misc)

Extra holes that would need to be filled pass side.

YearOne:  9
Goodmark:  0

Indents that would need to be smoothed or filled pass side.

YearOne:  6
Goodmark:  0

Holes that need to be drilled driver side.

YearOne:  1
Goodmark:  6 (1 is for A/C cars, 2 for the access panel for the alignment cam, and 3 for the fender tag(s))

Extra holes that would need to be filled driver side.

YearOne:  4
Goodmark:  0

Indents that would need to be smoothed or filled driver side.

YearOne:  0
Goodmark:  0

This is to make the panels resemble my 1970 A/C car inner fenders. So if you don’t have A/C, fewer holes would need to be drilled in the Goodmark panels. Also the YearOne panels don’t have the nut plates for the horns, so you would have to reuse your originals or fab something up. The Goodmark panels also have the rear brackets that mount to the cowl and the rear hinges bolts up to, they can be removed if needed, they attach like the factory version. The Goodmark panels are 70 panels and the YearOne versions are 71 and up. Not that big of a deal but there are differences in the battery area and by were the water valve mounts. Lastly the Goodmark panels sit on the top of the shock tower braces better then the YearOne version.

YearOne version $384 to my door
Goodmark version $475 to my door

Hope this makes sense

I installed a set on my 71 cuda and they fit really well with very little modification to make fit. I will look to see if I have pictures of the install.
