Well I'm finally ready to install the freshened 340 / 727 into my 71 shaker cuda.
I'm wainting for my headers to come back.. sent them out to be Alum coated. Found this place Airborn coatings in CT.. inside & out for $205.00).
Anyway, I'm not sure on what stall I should be buying. Pls help... This will mostly be a SAT night special, with some runs at the local track. II'd like drivability and high 12's track runs.. Is this even possible w/ my internals? ???The basics of the 340 are as follows..
72 340 block, std bore, forged pistons / crank. T/A heads (offset rockers) w/ mopar roller rockers. The T/A heads have been "opened" up very nicely.. awesome flow rates, offy duel plane, topped off with a Demon 750.
Lunnati cam is mechanical 235 duration and 528 lift. HP = between 450+. Rear is a 3:91 sure grip.
I really can't afford to chirp the tires every time I put the car in drive, but I don't want the car to fall on its face when I race either. I'm thinking that 2600 stall get's me into the high 12's and drivability.. or am I way off base.
Also, anyone know what the stock stall was on the 1971 340 converters??
Thanks as always to you gurus out there. My machine guy said the ported & polished T/A heads will really make this 340 jump.. he said I should have no problem running 12's.. i dunno. Thanks! I appreciate everyone's feedback.. luv this site!
