Max tire size for E-body Cuda
« on: February 29, 2008 - 06:00:49 PM »
Hi all. I realize the rim size issue has been thrown around alot but I was wondering if anyone has fit 31x12.50R-15 Hoosier Pro Street Radials under the back end of an E-body Cuda using Dr. Diff's offsets and a B-body rear? And if so, what wheel and what B/S?    :dunno:

I have the stock 8 3/4 rear with 275X60X15 on it. There is a little more room to go though.

The Hoosiers will fit if you relocate the springs and get the correct BS, perhaps B-Body rear? Dr Diff can custom make your diff to any size so you could mock everything up then order one to be safe. The Hoosiers have a 12.5 (315mm) You'll have a 1.5" room to play with as most if not all E-Bodies have around 14" section width (+/-).

I plan to run a set of Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R Radials when I want good traction and performance on longer trips. They will replace my daily driving 275/60 BFGs which are more for looks, photos and lower speeds. Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R tyres are 305mm, 28” OD @ 12.10 SW so stacks of room as I will also be running an XV L2 rear suspension 3 link kit.

Not sure what tire your talking about but the specs from the Hoosier site is:

# Pro Street Radial Tire Size: 31x12.50R-15LT
# Appr. Rim Widths: 8.5-11"(10")
# Overall Dia.:  31.0"
# Section Width: 13.4"
# Tread Width: 10.3"
# Max. Load: 1520 Lbs.
# Rated Infl.: 25 PSI
# Speed Rating: 95H
# Weight: 39 Lbs.

Section width is 13.4" so that's gotta be really tight.

Sorry, my bad, I had them confused for the Sportsmans.

In that case, they won't fit. If they do you won't be able to drive with them. Best of luck with it.......

no good........... also too tall imo ..... cut down on the tire height choice to get more "tread width" ......... need 1/2 room minumum on each side of the tire for flex :2cents:

Go wth the mt sportsman if you want a radial type tire.... 28*12.5*15  this 1st photos wason 5" backspace an 8.5 rim... would recomend 10" rim... 3/4 relo kit and b body rear.....

The yellow challenger is my car...

8 3/4 rear - 3/4 relo kit - 28*12.5 et street car is lowered 2.5"s - no wheel spacers.... - 5" backspace  - b body rear --- I know its a challenger but 360cuda here uses the same setup with a 295/50 tire......  pm 360cuda .......  :2thumbs:

even though the pic dont show it I can go up one more size

StRoKer - Thanks for the pics!  Cars look great!   :2thumbs:
I think I'm gonna try 29/12.50/15 Hoosier Pro street tires with Dr. Diffs B-body rearend stuff.

My next question is does anyone use Torque Thrust D's with 5" BS?  I know they will need to be special ordered.

Thanks, again, for all the great comments.
