    Im gonna be getting a new pad from ultimate rides.....

    How do you guys recommend doing this.... this is the last piece to complete my interior... tired of having a cover on the dash..

    Pull out the whole assemly cause I need to redo the lower dash itself???

    It sure helps if the windshield is out.  The 4 screws that attach the front to the defrost ducts I am sure is a pain to get to  if the glass is in.  Don't forget to unhook the speedometer cable, it will hold you back....It is a two man job also cause it is kinda heavy.

    It's probably easiest to take out the whole dash, but I did it with mine in. My way wasn't fun by any means, but if I can do it...


    Remove gauges, ashtray assembly, and glove box liner, then you can get a look at all the speed nuts that need to come out. There are also some along the front of the pad that are easy to get at, and a couple of screws on either end of the pad that you get at from the outside. You need a 3/8" small screwdriver socket type of tool, and also a short 3/8" wrench to get the front 2 corners.

    I would definitely pull the whole dash out as its not that hard to do and it will save you alot of swearing later.   :2cents:

    I had the same dilenma. Pull the whole dash. Undo the four bolts in the defroster vent (take out windshield), undo bolts at bottom on either side of stering column, and two bolts (one on each side) above kick panels. Unplug wiring and undo heater control wires and voila

    I really dont wanna take out the windshield.. can it be done without taking it out......  :screwy:

    I have an electric speedometer so clip clip.........  :jumping:

    Again, I did mine the hard way, so I didn't take out the windshield. The only speed nut I couldn't reach was the one up front in the middle of the defroster vents. I just pulled up on each side of the dashpad and did the twist while I pulled. I heard a pop, and landed in the back seat, but I got the dashpad out.  :grinyes: There are soo many speed nuts holding this sucker in, breaking one won't kill it.   :lol:

    I think im gonna take out the heater core & vents.... cars not original and wont ever need it..........  :scared:

    This type of tool will get the front bolts out with the windshield in place. But it may vary from mfg. to mfg. as some are thicker.

    Non A/C = 20 to 25 lbs with coolant in it
    A/C is 30 to 35 lbs with coolant in it.

    Not much of a weight loss I would think.

    Just make sure you take your Vin tag off the dash before you send it, they will not refit this for you.  So you will have to get some rosette rivets aswell.
