Anyone try one of these PG shifter plates?

It says you have to seperate the existing part, and put back together with the new piece.

Anyone done this yet, what's involved, and how did finished part look?

It was very easy to do, and looked great when it was finished.  The original has a few peened over pegs which need to be carefully drilled out.  Then clean up the pieces that are sandwiched between the chrome plate and the backing plate, installed them in the new chrome plate and used small screws to replace the peened over pegs.

Thanks for the info,

Is the new piece metal?  I would think so, but it doesn't say.  Don't want to end up with chromed plastic part.

It was chromed pot metal.  The chrome was a little wavy, but not really noticeable once installed in the console.

Mine looks good. It sure does beat the pitted originals.

I know I posted this before, but my shade tree mechanic method was to CAREFULLY pry the old bezel off with a screw driver. I used some epoxy puddy to install my new one.

I haven't seen the new set-up yet, but why wouldn't you screw it together as they suggest?  By the way, does yours say "slap stick" on the lense.  I see some do and some don't, it might be a 70 only thing?

I really couldn't see how to screw it together, but that's just me.

Mine does say "slap-stick". I can't remember why some do and some don't.  :clueless:
