Removing gauge console
« on: March 06, 2008 - 10:37:15 PM »
Hi
I want to remove the gauge console so I can replace it with newer gauges. Is there a procedure to follow to remove it? Do I have to remove the dash at all? Any screws or clips that I need to be aware of? I just do not want to try to remove it and in the process break something off.

Thanks

Anthony

As far as removing the gauges, no the dash really doesnt need to come out. Things can be finessed out as long as you dont use much force. The gauge cluster, the light bar, and the switch panel will all need to come out. Basically just a philips screwdriver (probably long and short) will do the job. I wanna say, but not certain 6 screws hold the light bar in, 4 hold the switch panel in, and 6 hold the gauges in.

For some help on the newer gauges, here is an example of how i did mine

oh and also mark your wires if you haven't had things apart before. Some masking tape and a sharpie will do.
