I agree........this is really starting to suck  :stomp:

This is one of the reasons I am using an outside host to post pictures, but this does not help when you lose what you have contributed.....
What's the deal?
If this server can get it's sh!t together I'd gladly pay.......but until then this makes it really frustrating to want to contribute anything knowing that your time and effort might be all for nothing  :walkaway:

I completely agree with jeryst.  No need for this.  Getting old if it happens every couple of months.  I'm not upset, not at all.  I dont even really give a crap how many posts I have, either.  Not like it's directly related to the size of my...

computer.   :icon16:

But I think something needs to change.  Also, even when its working normally, it seems to stall really bad after every 6-7 clicks on topics.  That gets old too.

Just my  :2cents:

I would gladly contribute.  This site means a lot to most of us.   :grinyes:

Holy, thats like a month of posts, how can system backups on a forum be only done once a month??  :dunno:

Was it 1 month worth?  :clueless:

Let's see....5.281 per day X 31 days =  :faint:

This board doesn't cost anyone anything and is here for your enjoyment.  Ross is jsut trying to make the board better by switching to a new server in hopes of making things around here faster.  I'm sure if he could of prevented the loss, he would of.  Something must of happened and this could not be avoided.

Its sad that the info is lost but let stay positive and move forward.  Not the end of the world by any means.

That was an unusually harsh April Fool's joke yesterday.

Ross was in no way responsible for this , the host which runs this site for zero cost switched us to a different server without notifing Ross or Ross would have done a backup Before the switch to save all the info

The site is moving faster now.  I suppose that could be due to less concurrent logins than before, but it feels like a new server :)  Were we on national-net before?  The server is in Atlanta?  Just guessing ...  :P

I'm assuming a full backup was done March 7th.  Was there any differential or incremental backups done since that time?  I know it requires extra media, and not to mention a human onsite to change tapes (unless you have a robotic tape library).  I think everyone here would pitch in some money to at least fund getting a backup strategy in place that would ensure if the server goes down we could restore to the day before.

BTW - thanks for all your hard work in getting the site back up.  I've seen good forums like this die before and it's always a tragedy!  I never want to see that happen to our beloved cc.com

I agree with Chryco.  We lost some posts but this is a free community.  I am sure Ross would have saved the data if it was under his control.

Remember that all computers will have problems here and there, so just have fun and lets keep this site the friendliest on the web.   :2thumbs:

I have no problems with Ross or the site. I just think it is totally irresponsible for the ISP to move something without scheduling in advance, and making sure that a backup was available.

Anyway, "Forward Ho!"

:iagree:

I don"t think no one here is getting on Ross for this issue.
It's just a shame to see info that folks here have taken the time share and help others with dissapear yet again.
 Yes the site is free.........
Yes we are all greatful for that........
Now let's make it a pay site so we don't have to deal with the annoyances  :money:
