I said it once and I'll say it again, beautiful car.  And thank you so much for that write up.   :2thumbs:

Oh, ok, only one more question.   :grinyes:

How is the voltage regulator wired in?  Did you use your old one?  I dont remember reading that in the write up.   :clueless:

Mopar says:

From the alternator connector, connect the wire from terminal 1 (field control) to the 12v ignition wire on the regulator.  Connect the #2 terminal (ground) to the green field wire on the regulator.

Then does the big post on the alternator go directly to the battery and starter?   :clueless:

Thanks.   :2thumbs:

Since the thread was lost in the black hole of CC.com.....  check out the tech archives of Moparts for the engine combo install. It is a must read of info and part numbers.

Thanks, Wes

Hey everybody! Thanks again for all the nice comments about the car.  :2thumbs:

As for the alternator wiring, it is totally done away with. You see, on our older engines, the voltage regulator is seperate for the alternator.
The newer Hemi's use a Generator, which essentially is a voltage regulator piggybacked to the alternator. This simplifies the wiring. The computer control's the generator field depending on load therefore the connector for the generator is part of the Engine Computer wire harness. The only other wire/cable needed is the heavy gauge cable from the output of the generator.
Since I purchased an assembly line 6.1 Hemi, it came with the factory wire harness attached, I removed the big red cable from the harness and connected one end to the generator, run the wire below the intake manifold (after wrapping it in convolute tubing) then connected the other end to the battery cable stud on the starter. That way we are basically using the starter stud as a B+ junction block.

Take a look at this pic I took before I routed it below the intake. By the way, the original cable comes with a nice plastoc cover made to lock over the stud on the generator to protect it from shorting.

Nice car are you in Hawaii?  :woo:

So I forget, how did you power the dash, or did you convert over to new gages?

Great car.

You are the man.  I thought something was funny when they said I had to wire in the regulator.  I got all of the harness with mine too, talk about simple!  Thanks a bunch.   :clapping: :woo:
