Anyone know anything about B-Body K frames?
« on: April 02, 2008 - 10:37:56 AM »
I know a lot of members have B-Boy cars, so I figured I'd ask.

I have a 70 Charger that came with a 318. I'm planning on putting a 383/727 in it.

What do I need to do that? Will the original K-frame work? Do I need new mounts?

I am pretty sure the K-frame is the same.  Not sure about the mounts though I am thinking they used a different mount...    :bigshades:

If the K frame is the same, why can't I just use regular Mopar mounts for a big block?

You can use the original Mopar BB mounts.  Chryco was just letting you know where you could get them if you need them.

Okay, now I'm starting to get confused. I looked on eBay to see what I could find.

Some people are saying that the mounts are the same for big block and small block.

Others are selling "Big block" mounts, but the ones some people are selling are different from ones that others are selling. Some look like they have rubber on the, some don't.

Can anyone post a pic of real big block motor mounts?

Can I just go to an auto parts store and buy a set?

The rubber pads are the same.  On one side the steel part is the same for small blcok and big block.  I don't remember what side w/o going and looking.  I can't right now.  Someone may know.  The steel part is different on one side.  You could get one mount from Sherman.  Here are pics of the BB mounts. These will also show how to bolt the mounts to the block.

Yes, the original k-frame will work. My 69 was a 318 and I put a 383/727 in it exactly like you plan on doing. Everything fits fine. I would get a bigger rear end in it though. Chances are you have a 8 1/4 in it...you should alteast have a 8 3/4 with a big block engine.
