72 Slant 6 Barracuda
« on: April 02, 2008 - 06:37:49 PM »
I posted earlier this week but from what I undertstand, all of that is gone.

I bought this 72 Barracuda in 2006 and finally getting around to the tear down. As I said, it has the slant six. For a while I was planning to stroke a small block, but have since changed my mind. The six is staying. Its a numbers matching car, I have the build sheet, (most of it anyway) and is a V2 car, so it will be getting Tor-Red paint. It came with a white interior, but I will be changing that to black.

From what I have read, there weren't that many made. Anywhere from 791 to 820, depending on where you look. About 596 of those were auto. How many of those were Tor-Red with a white interior? So I figure, it'll be few and far between before I see another car even close.  So I have decided to go mostly back to the way it came from the factory. With a few exceptions.

It will be getting fuel injection. I installed EFI on my CJ and I don't see any reason to ever go back to a carb. Anyway, thats my car.

Just saying hey... John

Welcome!!  The leaning tower of power is going to be nice to have with the gas prices the way they are.  I think the color combo is great just the way it came, but the black interior should be cool also.  I hope you keep the pictures coming as you fix it up.  What type of FI are you planning on running?

Welcome to C-C.com!  Not too many /6 cars here, so we'll all be watching your build with interest when you post a restoration thread.  I've heard of people getting 400+ hp out of the six, so you could have a nice combo there with decent power and economy.  Oh, and notwithstanding the one in your intro -  :useless:

Welcome John,

Glad to see that you are going to keep the /6.  I am planning a future setup for an E-body with the slant six and the OD833.  Keep us informed about your car.  I would love to see how you install the EFI.   :2thumbs:

Welcome to the site and sounds like you have a real plan for your slant 6 Barracuda. I have wanted to go EFI for years on my Challenger but it is very original and I hate to switch it over.

Love the combo of /6 with the Tor-red and white interior-of course I`m partial to it since my `72 came 318 Tor-red and white interior.I`d personally keep the white interior as you see a lot black guts and keeping the white would make it even more unique.

  Hi John!

Glad to see you here!  As everyone else has said, very cool combo of engine and colors!

Is you car a 'Cuda or a Barracuda?  I was looking at the trim in your grill and noticed it was orange/red.
Is'nt that a 'Cuda thing?  Woud be cool to se a slant 6 'Cuda!  :grinyes:
