I would be happy to help. I joined this forum to get some ideas on how people are building their challengers. I am looking to purchase one that I have found (71 Challenger SE, 383 auto) and trying to figure out how much everything else will cost. I am trying to come up with the money and see if I can make it work. Kids don't need to go to college, right? This forum has given me a ton of information, and I have seen many things that make me want to break the bank.

I may need to be in the Hayward area on Wed. the 9th. I will definately be there on the 16th. I am in Folsom which is 20 miles east of Sacramento. I need to drive right past his house on the way to Union City which is a few miles from Hayward.

Let me know if this helps.

This would help me immensly.  If you could forward a contact number through to me via my e-mail i will then forward it on through to Eric, as it will be much easier for you guys to communicate with each other.

Can you also post what numbers your 71 Challenger Vin is please as their was never an official SE Challenger built in 1971 they are 1970 only, but their is a rare optioned 71 Challenger that came with the small SE rear window option. :2thumbs:

I do not own the Challenger. A former customer of mine does and he has offered it to me. He told me that it was an SE, I would not know. He was going to restore it himself and may do so if I can not come up with the money. The body is fairly straight and looks to be rust free. It is a California car. It runs, but the interior is shot. He has owned it since 82.

Ken,
I sent you an email with my information for Eric.

Hi 383efi,

I have forwarded you and Eric emails.

Any chance you can get the Fender tag details so we can decifer what the Challenger is for you here before you commit so we can help you out buddy. :chatting: Would like to make sure you are getting what your paying for. :2thumbs:

Also both you (383efi) and Eric have messages in your Personal Messages (PM) as the site does not have the function of sending an e-mail with PM's for the moment.

Kenny,
I received your email and have the address in Hayward. I did not get any information to contact Eric. It looks like I may be able to deliver the door this week on the 9th. I would need to pick up the door on Tuesday or early Wednesday morning on my way to the Bay Area.

Eric has emailed me and we will make arrangements to pick up the door tomorrow or Wednesday morning so I can deliver it to Hayward Wednesday. I mapquested the address in Hayward and it is a mile off the freeway. I drive through Hayward on the way to our companies office. I should have it there by 10AM Wednesday.

I spoke to the owner of the challenger I am interested in. He did not have the car with him but remembered the first few numbers of the VIN. He gave me JH23N1. He believes the car was made in Michigan. I looked at a VIN decoder and the H meant high price level and the N was 383-4. He said the only rust he is aware of is a small area in the trunk. He did have a small fender bender in the car 25 years ago before he parked it in his garage. The hood is bent down slightly in the center front lip. The grill is gone, it busted up and he no longer has the pieces. He said the headlight buckets, radiator support, and inner fenders are just fine with no damage.
