I used hushmat in my trunk and dynamat on the inside.

Hushmat was a little cheaper.

How do they compare in terms of heft, ease of installation (cutting, shaping, etc)?  Does one feel heftier than the other?

I dont know maybe 100 lbs.  :dunno: Its worth it what ever it adds unless you are building a race car.  :2cents:

It will definitely add a lot of weight but unless you are going balls out it will be worth it for the sound deadening improvements, especially if you are planning a good audio install. Solid doors, low or no road noise and superb acoustic benefits.

I'm trying some matting I got from my nephew. It's some type of rubber they use when deadening compressors and such in shops. IMO stuff is a little on the heavy side. It's not sticky backed. But I cut out some for under the back seat. The way its configured I dout it will move. We'll see how it is for heat resistance as the muffs are rite under te back seat. We'll see............

I used some stuff that I got  on Ebay that worked real good and is relatively inexpensive. I believe there are some other folks on here who have used it also.

I used 1, but just did the floors, firewall and underneath the back seat. If you're going to do the doors and kickpanels you'll probably need 2 rolls. I put my new headliner in before I found that stuff, and glued a piece of housecarpet padding to the roof. This stuff would work much better for that too. I cut pieces to fit the contours and glued them in with 3M's Super Weatherstrip Adhesive spray. The stuff will conform a little to fit slight contours, but will have to be cut to fit more aggressive contours.

I did my doors and rear side window areas plus the trunk all the way to the rear seat. i also covered the bottom of the package tray. I used Dynamat Extreme for all of it (just kept looking for stuff on sale until I had enough). I had already installed the carpet and headliner or I would have used it there as well. I am VERY happy with the results and if the interior ever comes out again I will install it in the areas that I missed. Makes it much nicer to cruise IMO.
