74 Satellite Custom wanted - yeah the 4 door model
« on: April 04, 2008 - 02:41:02 PM »
I know these aren't in high demand, just want one for sentimental reasons, west coast preferrably.

Thanks....

I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....

I used to have one of those!  I loved that car!

Not a Custom, but a beige '74 Satellite four-door with a 318 and a bashed-in driver's side fender and a deep scratch on the right side.  It used to belong to the wife of Archie Moore, the boxer.  We called it the Struggle Buggy, but it would get up and move pretty good.  My roomie bought it from Archie Moore Jr, who worked with us and I bought from my roomie for $200 and a mountain bike.   I drove it for about a year between when I got sick of my old '75 Honda nickel-n-dime-ing me and when I bought my brand-new Ranger in '93.  It was going to donate it's engine and tranny to my original Challenger, but then my current one came along.  I had already pulled the engine and tranny and scrapped the body.  :dupe:  I have some photos; I should get them scanned.

We had a yellow one (The Yellow Submarine!) since new that myself and 3 of my sisters learned to drive in. Also drove across the country twice in it when I was a kid. I had it up until about 1997 when I ran out of space to keep it in. I actually sold it to another member of this website, but I'm pretty sure it's gone to the recycler years ago. I'd like to get another and paint it up to match our old one

Sorry, over here on the east coast can only find a 2 door '73.

I didn't see any on the CA craigslist... hope you find what you're looking for!

My dad bought a new 74 Coronet Custom, loved it, and thought it was the best car he ever owned.
The Satellites and Coronets had the same Custom option.
This is from the sales brochure.

Those fuselage Mopars really were the best looking 4-doors.  I nearly had a gold '71 Satellite 4-door (I think it was a hardtop) instead of my Challenger... it was a close thing.  Wish I had both!

I guess they quit making them mid year in 74 which makes finding one a little harder. Here are some pics of a 74. I'm hoping to find one that is somewhat stock, not a restoration or anything, just a decent driver.

Kenny, the difference between the custom and the regular satellite is the trim from what I can gather, more chrome around the side windows and maybe some other little stuff. While the Sebring and the Sport are two door models and completely different looking.

nope, haven't found one yet, but I do have a lead on where my old one is, no guarantees though. Here is one on the east coast, more than I want to pay though unless I can inspect it myself.
