Old cars, photography, stargazing, video games, sci-fi, guns, automatic knives, fishing, flea markets.

Is it still illegal to get a stilleto? I have wanted a quality stilleto since I was a boy. Know anyplace to get a good one?

The laws vary from state to state. In PA, you can buy, sell, and own them, but you are not allowed to carry one unless you are a law enforcement officer, fireman, or have have a disability that affects the use of one hand or arm.

Also, the laws usually  describe the knife as being activated by a mechanical button or switch, so you can carry "Spring assisted" knives, that open once you manually start the blade to open. Kershaw makes some nice, inexpensive ones.

Good article.

They are fascinating mechanical devices. I always thought that it is absurd that you can carry a hunting knife that doesn't need to be opened, yet you are not allowed to carry a knife that opens at the push of a button. And knives with thumb studs and pressure bumps can be opened just as fast as a switchblade, yet they are okay. I think the laws governing them were a kneejerk reaction to the newly frightening rock and roll/ gang scenarios that swept through Hollywood, pretty much like the article said.

I was shown how to "play" with butterfly knives. Dulled edges on one of them makes for a safe practice piece.

I used to be into trains a while back. Had some old Lionel stuff. Other stuff from Z-Scale right up to G-Scale and everything in between.
