Finally matching front tires! 255's
« on: April 04, 2008 - 07:18:56 PM »
 I've been running around on some used front tires i had, toe issue has been corrected but tore up one of the tires enough to where i'm not driving on it. They are 255/45/ZR17 Nitto 555's, rears are 295/45/ZR18  :2thumbs:

Front tires were always complaining when trying to take decent turns, these should hold up a little better  :drunk: They'll be on at some point tomorrow

That's a truck load of dollar bills goody. You going to break them down and mount them by hand?  I do mine just for the practice.

They were $130 a tire....easier to swallow when the rears were $200ea...ouch! I'll have one of the local tire shops mount and balance them

I have no doubts about you. Your gp average will peak throughout your terms.  I wanna see those tires when you get them on.

Well they arent a dramatic change, the old front tires were 27.2" tall & 9.3" wide, these are now 10" wide and 26.1" tall. So the wheel well is a little more opened up, but i was able to crank back the torsion bars to drop the nose down some more. May go a little more, we'll see where it settles at after a little while being there. Borrowed a bubble gauge setup and did an alignment on it, the change will come with the handling due to the much much much better front tires vs the older. Should be more fun to hit the corners a little harder

Theres a friend of mine with a 80s Porsche 911 thats known to autocross a little bit, i'd like to just have a run with him for a gauge on how it is  :grinyes:

You say those are 255"?  Could you possibly get a head on shot from down low that may show those a little better?  Thanks

Looks good Goody!

I had been thinking of putting my rears to the fronts and going with some bigger rears.  I got the 255/45/17 in the rear of mine now.  I'm going to have to swap them now and burn up the 245's to justify them though. :icon16:

I'll get one tomorrow if i can. I'm sure i'll be tinkering around with it some tomorrow. Yes they are 255s up front. Not as wide as some of the guys on here, but i had to stay on the safe side of clearances at $130 a tire. All seems to clear just fine
