looks like a nice car ,  she `s got the looks....  :2thumbs:
are those seat original?   they look exactly like the older bmw seats...

No, not original.  I don't know what they're from.  I e-mailed the guy last night just before I posted this.

Wow.  Your E-body can probably trade for 2 or 3 of those a-bodies.

Remember, his car could be just like yours underneath.  But yours is a Challenger.

You could always make yours a dependable driver with A/C, if that's what you want.

I understand the need to drive something but Greg you'l lbe giving up an R/T Challenger for a /6 Duster.  You sure you really want to do that?

Guys, I know I could make mine a driver with A/C, but the reality is, for a variety of reasons, I don't work on it often enough or have the skills without help to get to a driver in any less than two years.  And that's without doing the body and paint work.  Honestly, in the condition mine is in, there's no way it's worth $10k+ in this market.  I wouldn't pay that much.  (If someone wants to give me $10k, PM me and let's talk.)

So, yes, I understand that I'd be taking a financial loss given all the parts I've purchased.  Yes, I understand I'd be giving up an R/T Challenger for a /6 Duster, but I'd also be giving up a car in pieces with unrepaired rust that I work on once a month for a finished car I can work on a little at a time and still drive.  Take this car, put some wheels on it, save my  :2cents:  :2cents: towards a small block and I could actually enjoy it in the meantime instead of staring at it in the garage or fighting with my wife when I do work on it.  As Gary knows, there will always be another Challenger or Cuda.

We'll see - the guy might not even be interested.  If he is, I'll look real carefully at it to make sure it's solid.  If he's not or we can't reach an agreement, I'll continue working on mine or sell it.

You know, I might feel different if I'd ever actually driven mine.  I've owned it for almost 16 years and I have no idea what it feels like to drive it.

Ahhhh, You never drove your car.   I see why you don't have any connection and think that you might want to sell it.    Wait for the e-mail back from that guy. He is going to jump all over your deal.

Think about this.  If someone offered you a running 70 Challenger R/T with air, for $3000. Would you come up with some money very quickly to get it?   If you would, then why wouldn't you spend $3000 right now to get it running, then keep it.

I threw a $200 318 in my Cuda, dug up 4-speed parts and a driveshaft to get it running and rolling. It will get a $500 Maaco Paint Job and $500 worth of 15" Rallyes and BFG used rubber.   Once you get it close and driving, the little stuff comes later, like seat covers.  You just aren't seeing the end of the tunnel and need to get your butt in gear.  YOU NEVER DROVE IT YET!

I gotta stop looking at Craigslist late at night.  He was interested, but wanted to know what it needed to be a driver.  I e-mailed him back this morning.

Hi AJ,

I can't do it.  I had a nice e-mail written up detailing what the car needs, about how it's worth over $8000 even disassembled and what a great deal this was for you but I didn't care because I wanted a driver to cruise to a show.  But I walked out into the garage this morning and looked at it and I just can't do it.  I have 16 years of my life in this car, I've dragged it around through two moves, fought with my wife over it more times than I care to count.  I have almost everything I need to finish it - I just need to get up off my lazy butt and do the work.  But giving it up now feels like trying to sell off one of my children just because they don't want to do their homework and I'm tired of fighting about it.

Your Duster is a gorgeous car.  Based on the photos, it's worth every penny of the $6000 you're asking.  If I didn't have this car and was looking for a nice restored Mopar or if I needed a daily driver or even if I had an extra $6000 in my pocket and a place to park it, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.  I'd put some wheels on it and drive it as-is or drop a 360 in it and have a great little muscle car.  But after 16 years, as nice as your Duster is, I can't give up on mine.

I'm sorry for getting your hopes up.  Good luck with your sale.

Greg Hanson

I love you guys  ...but it was my Challenger that slapped some sense into me.  It just had to look at me.  :crying:  :dupe:

Wish I had $6000 to buy that Duster anyways.  That would make a sweet daily driver.   :grinyes:
