Looking good Greg!!  :clapping: I just wanted to let you know that when I used a wire wheel on my old wiper motor it rusted b/c I didnt clear coat it, just in case you used anything abrasive it may be a good idea.....

Hey Greg, that is great that you got the motors all cleaned up.  You are getting things done buddy, that is all that counts.  I look forward to your engine build,when do you plan on doing that ? i remember you having problems with it, did you get it sorted out yet ?

Hi Kenny, yeah, getting a little bit done.  I'm hoping to start on putting the interior back together this weekend.  No, I never got the engine thing done  - I need to get it back to the machine shop.  Since the car is a long ways from being ready for an engine, I haven't felt too pressured to get it over there.  It would just end up sitting on the stand anyway.

Thanks Wally - I need to go to my local paint and body supply shop soon to stock up on some rattle can paint.  I'll have to look for some clear coat too.  Good idea!   :2thumbs:  And congrats on your marriage.   :clapping:

Thanks, Scott; it was a bunch of time spent with a wire toothbrush at the work bench (or, as my wife says, "picking weeds.")  I still have a little more to get at in the deeper recesses of the transmission case that will require a Dremel to get at, plus the rewiring.  Anyone know, can I use standard plastic insulated wiring inside the motor casing or do I need to find cloth insulated?  Originality is not important.

The 440 is on the stand, it's just not assembled.  I started to put it together a few months back, but ran into piston fitment issues (see page 11) and then machine shop issues, so I put it on the back burner for awhile and am going to concentrate on doing some of the other things necessary to get the car back together and running - interior, rewiring, maybe some of the exterior trim restoration - before tackling the engine again.  I want to have the car ready to accept the engine when it's built.  Ideally, that would include paint and body, but due to some time and money pressures, that will have to wait for another time.  Oh, and yes, I do have the transmission - in fact, it's never been out of the car.

Thank you Greg! Im happy you're finding motivation. Mine has been done for about 7 years and its still taking me about 3 months to fix the gauge problem so i can drive it. You'll get there man!

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

The wiper motor and transmission I did by hand, mostly with wire toothbrushes, with sandpaper where possible.  The blower motor I wire-wheeled on the bench grinder where I could, then finished it up with the brushes.

if you have any more problems with the machine shop let me know . i know of a place that will do the work right .

   im in the same type of situation you are in with my cuda . tried to sell it / trade it , when it come time to do the deal NEVER HAPPENS .  keep up the great work!

Made a nice little score yesterday.  Some never-used NOS exhaust tips and new exhaust pipes that I found on Craigslist for $150.  The seller had purchased them about 28 years ago to upgrade his '70 Challenger 383 SE from single exhaust to dual, but had never installed them.  Both the pipes and the tips have a little light surface rust, way better than my old cancerous tips.  What looks like greenish streaks on the tips is the reflection of the tree above my head when I took the picture.

I haven't had a lot of time to work on my Challenger lately - my drivers have been needing some maintenance the past few weeks.

It sucks, but it is so true, the drive cars always take prority when a car is needed for traveling around :dunno: hope you get a chance soon to do some more of the little things that need doing Greg :bigsmile:

Well, it's been sitting collecting dust for almost a year, but today I actually worked on it.  I may still sell it, but decided I may as well do some assembly.  Either I'll drive it or make it easier to sell because it'll be closer to one piece.  Anyway, today I cleaned up and installed the door panels and hardware.  No pics...
