You can see my  :2cents: in the other thread you made, but you never know with Mopar......  :dunno:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

not unless the car was built as a non R/T & modified later by the factory for a display , other than that all 440+6 would have been coded as R/Ts as well

:iagree:The 440+6 had to be ordered with the R/T package.  Chrysler did this for warranty issues.  The R/T package had sway bars and other heavy duty pieces that Chrysler wanted to be with the 6 pack set up.  Disc brakes were also a mandatory option with the 440+6.

disc brakes should have been mandatory on all performance Mopars , that had them on the Imperial in 51 , why they were not std in the 60s I have no idea

 :iagree:
Drum brakes had a lower rolling resistance and were often preferable for a drag car.  My 440-6 car had 4 wheel drums.

You are correct.  I made a mistake.  I remembered something with the brakes being a manditory option.  Disc brakes stuck in the brain.  According to the order sheets, Heavy Duty drum brakes were part of the R/T package. If the optional performance axle package "Super Track Pac" (4:10 DANA) was ordered, then disc brakes were part of the package.  You could get this package with the 440+6 or the Hemi engines only.
