I have been driving old cars long enough to know that it is a good idea to have a couple simple hand tools and a few spare parts along whenever you take the car for a drive.  Even with triple A and a cell phone, I think it is better to NOT have to tow my car in case something breaks.  I picked up a spare ballast resistor, and a starter relay as a precaution, but what kind of field repair items do you guys take with you?

Ballast, plug wires, ecu, cap, rotor, rtv, 6 inches of fuel line, 1 quart of oil, power steering fluid, trans fluid, brake fluid, and a voltage regulator. But I have no jack if I get a flat.

when i daily drove my car i usually had

spare lights (brake/turn)
voltage regulator
ignition ecu
ballast resistor
various radio shack jumper wires
multi-meter
wrench set
socket set
pair of old belts
quart of oil
quart of atf

thats all i recall off hand. in the tool box of my pickup, i have all sorts of stuff!

Set of misc tools, mechanics wire, fuel line, spare upper & lower radiator hoses, heater hose, 1 gallon of coolant, ballast resistor, ECU (if so equipped), V regulator, fuel pump, 1 qt of oil, points (if so equipped), rotor, dist, 1 long plug wire, #14 gage wire (10ft), fuel filter. When you've driven these old Mopars as long as i have, you are going to break down, no matter how well you maintain them. Id like to avoid leaving them on the side of the road, or getting them towed if I can. Most of the above stuff is from my past experience. Maybe I'm a bit paranoid, but better safe than sorry.

Kinda makes for a full trunk when it's an e-body and you add two chairs, a cooler, and some display stuff. Add a pop-up tent for carlisle and a B body trunk looks like a great alternative.

You can make new friends when you break down. I use Visa/master charge for a transporter.  I used to carry all that stuff, but now adays I stay within 50 miles of home. The car cover is for acid rain.

 I mostly carry electrical components. Also spare belts, tools, air pump, and tire plugs. No spare or Jack though they take up too much room for the occasional cooler.

I dont drive mine far enough away to worry about anything.   :lol:

Mine is very well mannered, 70,000 original miles, doesnt burn a drop of oil.  Most of my miles are the 3 miles to town and back.   ;D

some assorted hand tools
spare distributor (complete)
module
some plug wires
jumper cables
quart of oil
quart of trans fluid
piece of vacuum line
piece of trans cooler hose - ever have a cooler line fail - it sucks!
gallon of water
$20 cash in smaller bills and a few bucks in quarters for phone calls all stashed away somewhere where I won't go spend them on junk
a fishing tackle box full of holley stuff (used to go to the track a lot)
timing light
white shoe polish
can of fix a flat
rain x
AAA card

I would drive anywhere in my car so that could mean the beach or the snow
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....

Well I learned my lesson today. Took the Cuda out today to cruise out to the Charlotte Auto Fair. Started fine in the garage. Got to the gas station and----no start!!! :swear: Went to check the battery and sure enough the negative battery post was loose. Two things that would have been very usefull at the moment would have been a 1/2 wrench and a set of jumper cables none of which I had. I had my Cuda all shined up looking nice and like a dummy I was going around asking people if someone had jumper cables. I felt like an idiot!!! :'(
