315/40/19's to tall?
« on: April 05, 2008 - 02:28:59 PM »
I picked up some used 315/40/19's of off ebay to see what they would look like on the cuda.  I really like the wide look but they may be a bit tall.  They measure 28.5".  I need a 315/40/18 but no one makes that size. What do you guys think?  I want a tire thats at least 26" tall.  305/35/18 may be the next option.

I like it. Do you have the ability to move the rear tires back some to help with fender clearance? Looks like you have a ladder bar setup? 28 inch tall tire is good, all depends on your rear gear ratio and driving habits. Taller tire makes for a bigger contact patch with same width tires.

Its a air bar 4-link set-up with the Dr. Diff 1" relocate.  Strange S60 with 3.54 gears.

I had some 29" tires on mine before, I think the height will work.  those things are huge/wide.  That will look killer!

if you can lenghten the 4 link slightly to move it away from the front edge of the wheel well it should be fine , looks great  :2thumbs:

Thanks.  The lowers really don't have much for adjustment.  I may visit with air ride to see if they can get me some a bit longer.

I have 28" tires on my car and they aren't that close to the front of the wheel well opening, a 1/2 inch taller shouldn't be so close to the sheetmetal IMO

I am using 285/30/20's for the rear of my 70 challenger on a 20X10 wheel, they measure 26.7  w/ 11.5" section width, 18's would have been my 2nd choice if i planned on more of a daily driver, but for a cruiser and to hit the local burger joints + carshows I figured "go big or go home" cars going on the rotisserie very shortly ill post some pics when its back on the ground with the wheel under it.    :working:

PS love the pics, the more the merrier in seeing what everyones doing to fit these big wheel/tire combos under the Ebodies >>  :naughty: :naughty:

Thanks for the input guys.  I've ordered some adjustible lower arms from Air ride to move the axle aft a bit.  That should get me a little more clearance up   front.

:) I don't have my rims yet, just mocking up some tires to see what will look good.  Right now the Boze Stingers are my front runners for choice.
