1970 Challenger that now has a 1972 400 in it....newly rebuilt 1970 727 trans, 600cfm Eldo carb...

adjusted but still will not kick down in passing gear...

could it be inside the trans or do I have kickdown linkage probs?

Did this trans ever have a PTKD?  I have an old article about swapping it in to the older transmissions.  I think it wasn't standard until 1972 or so.

I'm sure that Terry will chime in.

Looks like you need to adjust the KD rod at the top there.  Twist the rod till it is up against the carb stud.  If You can't get it that far out either weld it or add a Nut and bolt to get it there.

I would bet you need to unscrew the slide out quite a bit more, looks like an adjustment is needed. Tact will be the pro for you. I'm seat of the pants and my seat isnt in your car....

There should be no gap where the kickdown linkage connects to the carb stud. You seem to have about an inch to move the linkage forward. Apparently the return spring on the linkage is not doing it's job or the linkage needs moved forward.
