2008 Goodguys Del Mar Nationals
« on: April 06, 2008 - 03:11:43 AM »
Instead of working on my car today, I indulged in one of my other hobbies - being a Dad - and took my son to the Goodguys Del Mar Nationals at the San Diego County Fairgrounds.  There were over 2000 cars there.  Of course, most were Fords or Chevys, but there were a few nice Mopars musclecars scattered throughout.  I didn't see any Mopar rods or customs, save one Plymouth Business Coupe (a '37, IIRC), but there were a lot of cars I didn't see, after my son started complaining after 3+ hours of walking around.

These are just the Mopars.  I took a bunch of photos of some other makes, as well as some interesting "other" vehicles, but will post them to Flickr and will modify this post with the link when I do.

First up, a cherry (well, plum!  :smilielol:) '71 Challenger 383 auto.  The little model on the roof rotated.  I like the look at the luggage rack and am thinking that maybe the one on my car will stay after all.

Enjoy!

Next, a Panther Pink 63(?) Fury 426 Max Wedge.  I was unable to get far enough from this car to get the whole car into one shot, what with all the people moving around and another car parked right in front of the Plymouth.

A '69 Charger R/T.  Love the electric blue highlights against the black.

An R01 A990 recreation, only with more power.  According to the accompanying display, the Hemi in this car had dyno'ed at about 635 hp.

A '65(?) Plymouth Belvedere Hemi with Hillborn injection.

A '66 Satellite Super Gas recreation.  That's a 383 under the hood.  The interior of this car was very nice and the lady sitting behind it told me that it was a very comfortable car to cruise around in.

This big-and-little Valiant had a fat 440 between the fenders.  Despite being an unappealing brown, it was very clean, inside and out.

A few more.  The '56 Chevy doesn't seem to belong until you look at the fender badge. :roflsmiley: :smilielol:
