Went to look at another 1970 Challenger today...
« on: April 06, 2008 - 07:46:30 PM »
It was suppose to be a silver 383 for $8,000 with solid floors... instead I found a rusted out burnt orange 318 with more rust in the window area than I've seen in a long time.  It's a parts car for sure!  :scared:  I didn't even take pictures of the worst parts.  It's got a 71+ dash with new state inspection VIN.  It would need SOOOOOOO much work in the roof and cowl area!  The roof almost wants to collapse on itself.

What do you guys think it's worth as a parts car?

I like the color on this car, the wheels are cool too IMO.  :grinyes:

A little pricey for a parts car though, no?  :dunno:  It's not like it has atleast a 340 in it, no SE or R/T stuff to scavaenge... I dunno... see what others say...

How do you find these cars!?!?!?!?  Good Eyes!  :eek7:

I personally would not give more than like 3k for it, what with the opened up engine and all the rust. I sure like all the 3/4 speed stuff that is on it though

The do make new roof panels now. It's not worth 10K but I think it's more than a parts car.

Sorry, I reread your initial post.   :misbehaving:

So what engine is in it?  Did I read you said it had a 318 but it's supposed to be a 383?  It looks like a BB engine.  :dunno:

It does have 440 spray painted on the rear quarter though...  :smilielol:  :roflsmiley:

I have to agree, although I believe you, looking at the photos you posted I've seen a lot worse than that be restored to show spec. To call it quites on this car would be sad, definitely savable, hopefully someone has time.

I didn't do anyone any favors by not taking good photos.  Trust me the car is much more rusty than you can see.  The car was a 318.

I think it can be bought for around $3,500 to $5,000.... maybe less.  If anyone wants it, PM me or call me.  It's about 3 hours from my house.

WOw Cody. That's actually pretty clean. Mine looked worse...and I started to build mine.... hahaha.
I bought 2 Challengers for 4K when prices were high.
Shipping was $1500,they were both 318 cars. Both pretty clean, minus 1 roof.
New roof skin $15o you get the picture. I am nuts. I you have a need, go for it.

:iagree:  Everytime I look at that car it looks sweet, rust and all.  I remember when I was little and the cars around here were so rotted out they drove around here like something took a bite out of the rear quarter panel they had sooo much rot.

You would see the spare tire hanging out of the well in the trunk from underneath!  :roflsmiley:  :faint:

Yep I definitely agree with that
Unless those pics are deceiving I'd say you got one hell of a good foundation to start with, especially if someone here could snag it for around $3,500
Like JS27N0B said, they do make new roof panels now, so what was once a scary fix that most stayed away from now is a just another panel away from a fix  :2thumbs:

Another words it should be saved  :jumping:
