Aussie members - where to buy Barracuda shocks?
« on: April 08, 2008 - 09:03:55 AM »
Should have replaced the shocks during the build but going to do it now.  Can get Koni shocks at an exhorbitant price and 8 week waiting time - any other options locally??  Anyone bought recently?

Buy them direct from the US mate, dollar is weak, cheap as prices and it should only take 2-10 days shipping. Try Summit or Jegs, low prices. People down under charge an arm and a leg, cut out the middle man, always cheaper getting the parts yourself, unless you're buds with a shop owner and get it at mates rates lol.

Kenny, Looking for a full set, appreciate what you can find out.  Have the part numbers (Koni front 80-1538, Koni rear 82-1255, KYB front KG4510, KYB rear KG5512) and was thinking about trying to find a local match if catalogues cross-referenced?  KYB Australian site only mentions Aust' delivered cars but thought the numbers might line up with something here.

Carl, you might be right, Aust' Koni distibutor wanted something like $1000 for a full set of shocks  :22yikes:  Will try and avoid the freight from the US if I can but after checking some sites it seems that not many manufacturers make shocks for Barracudas anyway.

cheers, Mark

did you use those koni`s before?  I `ve been thinking koni too, but maybe you can tell me if the partnumbers mentioned are the correct ones for normal street use, and an occational dragrace.
thanks,Bart

Hey Dutch,

I haven't used Koni's before so can't tell you what they are like but for the price, I'm concerned the gold plating will just wear off

I took the part numbers off the US Koni site which has a link to their catalogue.  Part numbers are for the Koni Classics so I would assume they are street shocks.

Kenny came up with a Brisbane supplier who has some KYB sets for e-bodies in stock - just about to give them a call

Cheers, Oz

:2thumbs:  Could be a time for us Aussie's to put a few local part No.'s on line for the rest of us. As mentioned above several Valiant parts fit and they are still alot cheaper than importing from the US.
