Finally!! She Runs!! I got this e-mail from the guy who is doing the resto yesterday!!

She lives!!!

Challenger has snorted to life and run.

At approximately 4:30 pm Monday December 15, 2008 the Challenger was awakened after its 18 year long sleep. It sounded very throaty running with open headers. After a couple of minutes running it was decided it was best to shut it down as the oil pressure gauge on the dash does not work. An external mechanical oil pressure gauge is being hooked up so we can monitor the oil pressure while we break the engine in. We will be running it again tomorrow morning.

Any of you guys have any ideas why the oil pressure guage might not be working? I have a ralley guage  cluster! and would very much like for every thing to work! Rachelle said that everything worked when it got parked so I am wondering if maybe they forgot to hook something up? any suggestions?

thanks
Bill

Check the oil pressure sending unit. If you see oil leaking out, that's a bad sign. Mine went on me.   :eek4:

The gauge itself could also be faulty, but that is evident by the needle hanging WAY low, almost out of sight.

The shop doing the resto has decided that their is a DARK cloud hanging over my car!!    :pullinghair:   the electronic distributor that had been put in before they rebuilt the engine has been discovered to have gone bad!!   :eek4:  so they purchased an MSD set up and installed that only to find out that the distributor that came with that set was bad so another one had to be ordered!! When will the bad luck STOP? I guess when you let a car sit for 18 years all kinds of bad things crop up! lets hope nothing else rears its ugly head. This is getting to be more expensive by the minute!! But I guess on the good side I will have one great sounding, fantastic looking car when they are all done! I can't wait!!   :burnout:  I have been promised and my fingers are crossed that is should be done by christmas!! BUT........ I was also promised it would be done by JUNE too! so we shall see!  Here is to hoping I will get a nice big stroker wrapped in a big blue car for christmas!!!
I sure hope I am having all these problems NOW so after they are done with it I won't have any more problems with the car and it will run TROUBLE FREE!!   :bananasmi   again I have my fingers crossed!!!!

Here is another update!!

The buckets went to the upholsterer and he found that the frames were rusted! NO shock there BUT he found some broken springs so he replaced those! sounds like he is going to do a GREAT JOB!! THENNNNNNN they went to move it so they could send the car to him for the new headliner and vinyl top but I think the gremlins are after this car! NOW the ignition switch has decided to give out so now on top of Everything else they had to buy another switch!!   :pullinghair:  Man this car is really turning out to be a BIG MONEY PIT!! but I believe the end product will be totally worth the money!! the tires are mounted and balanced and it went to the muffler shop for new exhaust! so now after the new interior it should be almost DONE!!   :bananasmi  just about 6 months off schedule but who's counting right?
I can't wait to get her home!!

AMEN

But I am getting anxious! they have had the car almost 1 year now and he promised it back a whole lot sooner than that!!   :stomp:  So I am going to ask him if he thinks he can have it back to me before the 1 year aniversary of him getting the car in his shop!!     I think that should be possible. Cross my fingers all they really need to do is work out the electrical problem because when it comes back from the upholsterer it is almost complete!!   :bananasmi  They just need to work out the kinks!!  Then I need to send it to the painter!  Thank god he is real slow! so he can take it right away! and he does very good and fast work!! yea!!!!!!
