Good news!!! my rims are repairable except they come with a price tag of $330.00 each!! good thing I saved for this project!!

I need some input....   :feedback:  .............my original windshield is in good condition it only has one little chip on the drivers side! BUT the guy doing the resto say he likes to replace them because windshields after 30 years of sand and gravel hitting them get fine pits and stuff all over them and causes the sun to glare real bad and a brand new one would help the sun glare? what do  you think? should I allow him to replace the original windshield or demand he put the original one  back in? he had to take it out in order to fix the roof!!   :1zhelp:  Please!! I seem to feel the original one should be fine!!what do you think?
Thanks
Bill

If it is a factory glass, I would first make sure the glass date code is correct for your car.  If it is or even if it isn't the glass can be buffed.  It is pretty much the same procedure as buffing paint on your cars body.  I would stress to the person buffing it the the date code be not buffed.  It will come off.  Even if it is the wrong date code for your car I would keep the date code. You may want to get rid of the glass in the future.  You never know. Without the date code it is just a piece of glass.

I  am pretty sure it is the ORIGINAL windshield the gal I purchased the car from purchased it in 1980! and it has never been wrecked so the chances of the glass being changed is pretty slim!! so you think I should keep the original windshield?    :horse:

A replacement windshield is $150ish, are you going to drive this thing or restore it :dunno: Date coded new glass is available $$$ but I don't see the point unless you plan to do a date code restoration of the whole car. Driving with an old sandblasted windshield sucks. Get a new one and enjoy your car.  :2cents:

The last tinted window I bought was aroung 125.00. For that there is no way I would use a 40 year old one.   :2cents:

ok I thought I would update you guys and with pictures for a change!! I went and looked at the car the other day and OMG are they doing a fantastic job! I decided to go ahead and let them fiberglass the rusty roof he said that after they fibreglass they were gonna seal it and then lay a coat of paint on it good thing they did I got to see their interpretation of what color the car was and it wasn't what I wanted! I am gonna have them paint the trunk and engine compartment while the engine is out so I got a test run on their color choice (thank god!!!!) it was WAY TOO GREY for me so I told him it needed more blue tint in it so hopefully when they paint the engine compartment and trunk it will be closer to my liking!! ok here are the pix     It is so smooth and solid from what it was before I couldn't believe it!! I am REAL impressed with their work!!

NOTE:attachments e-mailed to mek again as the server won't let me post them!!

In case you are wondering I am not having the whole car painted! all I am having done is stiffer leaf springs put on, a bigger sway bar, the engine rebuilt, the brakes rebuilt the interior redone and the rusty roof repaired and the vinyl top replaced, and the trunk and the engine compartment painted!! that is gonna cost enough then I will have to save again for a really great paint job. The existing paint job still looks pretty good all it needs is a good buffing out!! so I figure new paint can wait! give my wallet a chance to recover   :faint:

Bill,
I found 2 of these rims in the back of my shop. They are 14X7. I think there is another one around here also. Are they the same as your wheels? I'll send an email or PM to you also.

Tod,  I think he said his wheels are Keystone Classics. a 70s style wheel.  Yours looks like a Champ 500.
