Rear End Checklist
« on: April 08, 2008 - 09:13:26 PM »
Hey all,

I think I've got all my parts to put my rear end back together since the accident a while back.  I just wanted to run through the list with everyone to see if I missed anything:

-- Axles
-- Axle bearings (2, not Green bearings) w/ race
-- Axle seals (foam)
-- Axle oil seals (4 - the parts catalog called for 4  :clueless:)
-- New Drums
-- New Shoes
-- New Hardware
-- New Wheel Cylinders (2)
-- Extra Brake Fluid

Anything else?  Oh yeah, still looking for a 14x6 Rallye Rim too.

Do you need new drum backing plates? I do remember mentioning your rubber brake hoses. Probably be a good time to change those out since you need to flush the brakes (front & rear). dont ask me how i know!!!

As always, you need a hand, lemme know. I can probably borrow the pressure brake bleeder from work which makes things easier (i need to flush the fluid in my truck anyway). I do have some of the drum brake tools (though no standard line-wrenches which are important since you're reusing the hardlines). I've done mine, but they are still always fun to too  :grinno: Maybe i should drive my car this time for easy comparison if need be  :lol2:

Now would be a good time to use some PB-Blaster, WD-40, etc on the brake line fittings at all rubber hoses, and at the back of the wheel cylinders every couple days. So when you get to taking it apart, hopefully...HOPEFULLY, all the line fittings pop right loose.

Good call on the backing plates and hoses....I had a feeling I was forgetting something.  I'll have to look at my catalog to see what the chrysler part#'s are on those 2 items and see if the local auto store sells them.

Accident?  :22yikes:     :clueless:

Well it was from when that clown cut me off and I did a 180 and slammed my car against the curb, bending the rear Axle.

When the site went down about a week ago, did we lose some data?  I can't seem to find the thread about that occurance anywhere?  :dunno:

There was a post here, but I think it was lost when the server went down.  I noticed a lot os posts that seemed to be missing.  At any rate, here's the pic I drew up to explain it a bit better.

Our CLOWN is a good CLOWN, but I have heard there are bad clowns too. I am glad damage was minimal and you were ok. :2thumbs:
