1 Crazy Lab
« on: April 09, 2008 - 06:18:18 PM »
My lab Rocky has been jumping straight up from a stand still ever since he was a pup. He turned 3 years old yesterday and I finally got him on camera. The fence is 4 ft high and as you see he is higher than that. I am 5'9" and he jumps up and hits me in the forehead with his nose. I love it. He weighs 76 lbs.
This is just one of the many crazy things he does. Sunday my wife and I were landscaping and he would sneak up behind me and steal the gloves right out of my back pocket and run with only to drop them 20 feet away. I would go pick them up and 5 minutes later he would do it all over again.
I am sure all you dog lovers have stories to share.. Lets here them.

It sounds like he wants to be a part of the NBA's slam-dunk contest.   It's so easy to get attached to their quirks, isn't it?

This is Pheroh. He is the best. A pure white golden retriever.   Cool doggie you got there!      I've had labs my whole life.   This guy just "picked me"    I adopted him from a fellow contractor.  I was not prepared for,Or even looking for a dog. It "just happened"   He has been just fantastic.   Basically a celebrity around this town. He likes to chew on wood scraps from the chop saw. I once saw him "sneak" into a kitchen we were doing demo on. To get a piece to chew on. He's too funny.

Great doggie pics guys!  I know quite a few labs that can jump like that.  They are such sweet, goofy dogs, full of life and energy!

I love labs. The name of mine is Zeus.

The latest pictures are already about 4 months old. He's 11 months old now. In January he was at 65lbs so he's likely into the 70s by now.

This one is definitely not a jumper. He is the keep away/tug of war champion, however. The Labrador Evader personified.

Great dogs!! I love dogs and had a Lab for 15 years!! I don't currently have a dog. My wife is allergic. My lab got out of the back of my truck one day and came looking for me in the grocery store. That was a funny scene. You should have seen him trying to run away from the manager on that waxed tile floor!! :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol: Thanks for sharing the pics!!

My previous Lab, Calvin whose in doggie heaven now; I trained him to power jump off the docks for the ball or stick just like in the dog competitions. That dog was amazing. 10 feet out easily. Then I persuaded him to jump off cliffs 12 feet high into the lake. He was always chicken but we'd egg him on to jump. crying at us on the top leaning over shaking.

Unfortunatly, stomach cancer got to him. He was put to sleep one day and he died in my arms. I was crushed for so long after that.  Earlier that same day, we took him for his last swim at the lake.

I sure miss him.  :sadwavey:

My lab is named Shadow.  When he was a little puppy, we would put him in the utility room in the basement, because he wasn't quite housetrained yet.  In order to keep him out of the anti-freeze, and other chemicals stored in the room, we split the room with piece of chain link fence.  First time we put him in there, we got home to find him on the other side.  Keep getting over, and we couldn't figure out how he was doing it, untill one day we got home, went to let him out, and caught him halfway climbed up the fence.

Of course, he's 10 years old, now, and a big fat old dog.  Spoiled rotten, too.  Can't ever leave a plate sitting unwatched on the table, or he will get it.

I love the pic of Zeus when he was a puppy!!!  :grinyes:

Did he have a speck of white on the end of his tail back then?  :clueless:  He reminds me of a puppy I had a looooong time ago.

My aussie used to do that too, it always made us laugh since if he wanted to he could easily go over the fence.
