Progress
« on: April 09, 2008 - 11:21:01 PM »
I have been making some progress on my 70 Challenger R/T 440 six pack and thought I'd post some pics.  I have a ways to go but its finally starting to come together.  This car is a little unique in that it has a yellow tail stripe.  I am trying to get it back to stock as much as I can.  Am currently on the hunt for a dual point distributor.

I have found this site to be quite useful and thanks for all those that have answered many of my questions

Dan

:wow: that color really looks good. I had myself talked out of that color, but now i am not so sure. Did you use a single stage or dual stage paint for doing the interior? I am getting close to shooting the inside of mine.

The car was featured in the rare finds section of Mopar Muscle in Nov 2007.  It was all complete with the exception of having headers, and mag wheels. and differentfront seats.  Its an automatic car with houndstooth seats, dana supertrak with 4:10, rallye package, AM radio and the sublime color with the FY9 stripe.  I discovered the car through a friend that knew of a neighbor who had this car gargaged since the early 80's.  There was almost no rust on the car witht the exception of the rodents damage.  I could  not locate the buildsheet because the original owner changed out the seats since she did not like the houndstooth - and put charger seats in.   I founds just a small corner of the sheet under the back seat that she retained.

I have hired out the paint and body and am using a well known local restoration shop in my area.  I am building this car to drive but am taking very few exceptions from the original build.  I hope to have it all done within the year.  I will post more pics later today of the car before the restoration.

That's looking beautiful; obviously some good work going on. Have you located replacement fron seats yet? I understand the H5X9 bucket frames are different than standard all vinyl frames.

Onfornow -- Thats an interesting comment -and I was not aware of any "seat frame" differences for the H5X9 package. Can you or any of the other members identify the differences for me??

I am pretty sure that the frames are not special for the H5X9 Bucket as it is only a Black vinyl seat with a cloth insert :clueless:
