Finally Finished 4spd Conversion
« on: April 10, 2008 - 09:42:49 PM »
Well, just got done with my 4spd conversion tonite.

I started a post for this a few weeks ago but as we all know alot of them got deleted.
I just got back from putting about 20 miles on it and it feels great. No sqeaks or rattles. Transmission shifts great and everything went pretty smooth outside of me cutting my leg with the cut off tool (don't ask) , no bad I'm still alive and no missing limbs..

I took alot of photos,  so if anyone needs anything feel free too ask. Would I do it again , hell yes..
I took all my Automatic stuff and boxed it up with the floor tunnel (one piece cut) and saving it just in case I want to go back (NOT).

It took longer but I was in no hurry, the only down side is my buddy wants me to change his clutch in his '70 car.

Can't wait to put some miles on it before I start beating on it at the track, (there goes my consistency). Going to be a little harder to go rounds and win, but I can drive the finish line better than most street guys...

I'll put maybe 50 to 70 miles on it this weekend if it don't rain....

Hey, Vinb, is that the Eastwood NoWeld kit you used for your four-speed hump?  I just bought that kit and am planning to use it when I install the hump in my car.  If so, how did you like it?  And how much of the adhesive did you need to use?  I'm looking at the tube that came in the kit and thinking it's not going to be enough.

:2thumbs:  Looks great, I will be converting my '70 Challenger in the future. When I was in America last year picking up the Challenger  I bought all the necassary parts. Most from Keisler who were very helpful, I pre ordered the parts and they delievered them to "The Mopardude" in Kansas for me.
The only concern I have is the placement of the bracket for the "Z" bar on the chassis rail. Can you either post a picture or put some measurements on this thread. I was going to assemble everthing and then place the bracket on the rail and weld it, but if measurements can be given it would be alot easier to weld in with the bellhousing and gearbox out.
There was thread last year about whether to have a consul or not, I have been leaning towards a no consul like yours, looks better even though a consul is very handy.   :burnout:

Yes & no , as long as it has both the front & rear shifter mount pads the B & E are the same , up to 69 the B body only had the front mount pad , other wise they are the same dimentionally

You don't have to measure for the Z bar support bracket.  There is a slot that should already be there for it to fit in.  I have pictures on my home computer and I can post them for you later if you like. The ones I posted on here before are probably (but maybe not) gone.

Here is a pic of mine that I posted before.  You can see the slot at the bottom right of the photo that should help up align the bracket.

I don't know how to post the link but the pictures I provided are under a post titled "new conversion question for a first timer".  I just looked and the pictures are there.
