back side of panels

All,

I'm wondering what everyone does with the back side of the various body panels that are removable (e.g. front & rear valances, fenders, etc.).  I was thinking of just cleaning them up with a scuff pad and solvent and then shooting a couple of coats of epoxy primer on them.  Or do people actuallyo base/clear the back side as well?  It doesn't appear that they were painted from the factory?

I plan on doing just that - scuff and epoxy primer, my local paint supplier suggested the same thing.

I've seen people paint the insides of the fenders, but why? unless its going to be on a stand with mirrors underneath. Plus that is a bunch of money and prep for no good reason IMO. The inside of the rear wheelwells will get undercoated on top of the epoxy the old fashioned way..

I am going to use SEM satin trim black for the bottom and backsides of the panels.

I paint mine body color using acryllic enamel. It's durable and if someone wants to look in the wheel wells at a car show it looks nice.

I should clarify my previous post, for a more original restoration I would go with painting inside the fenders body color..just depends on what the goal is.

Thanks all.  My car is far from original and will never be in a car show with mirrors under it, so I'll stick with the epoxy and then bedliner for undercoating on the parts that need it.

I painted mine with body colour but single stage and then we applied stone-guard over everything. Otherwise after a few years you will have millions of paint chips under there from sand and gravel.
